Conversations with Erich Janzen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erich Janzen.

Hi Erich, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started martial arts when I was 11 years old, I was bullied in school and at sports events I attended, so that’s why I started. About a year in I finally found the courage to stand up for myself. Now that I’m older I can help others because I run my own program as well as an afterschool karate program.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been easy, between trying to make ends meet, taking care of my wife and our new child just as I was starting the program. But it’s been worth every big of struggle

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve worked in the martial arts for over a decade now, it’s been the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever done.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to keep on teaching, and keep on learning. A martial artist should know how to adapt to any problems that might come up.
