Conversations with Esther Edehomon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Esther Edehomon.

Hi Esther, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a content creator who lives and breathes social media—specifically Instagram and TikTok. My love for marketing and storytelling actually goes way back to middle school, long before I even realized it could be a career. Before I moved to the States from Nigeria at nine years old, I spent so much time watching creators online; they were my window into a different world and really sparked that first creative flame in me.

Coming to America, I watched my mom work her tail off, juggling multiple jobs just to keep us going. Seeing her hustle like that really hit home for me, even as a kid. I knew I wanted to help out and make a real impact, and I felt like content creation was my way to do that. It started as a passion project, but it’s grown into something that’s changed my life. Now, I’m at a place where I have the financial freedom to take care of myself and my family, and I’ve had the chance to work with some incredible, well-known brands. But honestly, the best part is being able to use my platform to create experiences for other people who started out just like I did.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road to get where I am today. I’ve faced way more ‘no’s’ than ‘yes’s,’ and I’ve had my fair share of failures that shaped me into the woman I am now. One of the biggest hurdles early on was just not having the money for proper equipment. I had to piece things together however I could, often asking family members for help even though I knew they were struggling too.

Coming from an immigrant household, my parents were focused on keeping the lights on and paying bills, so they weren’t in a position to fund my creative dreams. It took a long time and a lot of patience to finally get the gear I needed to really make my ‘claim to fame.’ On top of the financial side, I had to deal with a lot of people who just didn’t see the vision at first. It wasn’t until the fruits of my labor started showing—like getting PR packages and signing deals with top brands—that people finally started believing in what I was doing and even coming to me for advice.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in creating content across Instagram and TikTok, but I’m doing it all while navigating life as a college student. My work is really a blend of my passion for the things i love and my everyday experiences on campus. I’m mostly known for being real about my journey from my roots in Nigeria to how I’m building a career and finding financial independence while still in school.

What I’m most proud of is that I’ve been able to create a life where I can support myself and my family, all while juggling classes and working with some incredible, well-known brands. What sets me apart is that ‘student-creator’ perspective. I know what it’s like to have big dreams but limited resources, so I focus on making content that shows other students and immigrants that you don’t need the fanciest gear to start making an impact and building something for yourself.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t about a certain follower count or even just the big brand deals. It’s about the freedom to take care of my family and the ability to turn my passion into something that actually makes a difference. Coming from Nigeria and watching my mom work so hard, success means I’ve built a foundation where I don’t have to struggle the way we used to. It’s also about impact—if a student or another immigrant looks at my journey and feels like they can achieve their dreams too, even without the fancy equipment or a clear path, then I’ve truly succeeded.
