Today we’d like to introduce you to Gene Givens.
Hi Gene, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In the beginning of 2021, my wife and I had my windshield replaced on our vehicle. This was my very first time actually having to get a windshield replaced. I must say, the whole process of getting my windshield done intrigued me. I was surprised how the whole process went from start to finish. The business that did the work handled contacting my insurance, setting up an install date, ordering my new windshield, and having a technician come to install the windshield. Best of all, the business who installed my windshield billed their expenses directly to my auto insurance company! I must say, the whole process was smooth, quick and simple.
Over the next few days, I thought about the possibility of me starting my own Mobile Auto Glass Replacement Business. I felt like a business as such could be very successful being that I could offer a great service for free most of the time. I instantly started to do research. I wasted no time reaching out to other Auto Glass Shop Owners to get as much information that they would provide to me as it related to starting, operating, and maintaining my own Auto Glass Repair Shop. I spent hours educating myself on: licenses and certifications needed and how to obtain them. I learned state laws and the process of: billing insurance companies, locating glass distributors, learning about the products, materials, and tools used in installations. After doing detailed research, I knew this was something I could do!
I then put together a detailed business plan on how I wanted to structure my business and started to put that plan into action. After lots of prayers, planning, and preparation Givens Auto Glass LLC was established in June of 2021! After the establishment of my business into an LLC, I then obtained my licenses and everything else I needed to start replacing auto glass. Then in February of this year, I was able to complete my first 5 windshield replacement jobs! Today, Givens Auto Glass has expanded to provide Mobile Auto Glass Replacement, Mobile Assisted Driver Alert Systems (ADAS) Recalibrations, and Mobile Auto Diagnostic Testing. I am excited for the growth of my business and optimistic about what the future holds for it!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting and maintaining a business is not easy. Owning and operating an Auto Glass Business can be challenging because for one, billing certain Insurance companies and receiving payment can be a lengthy process. Another challenging obstacle I face is being new to auto glass it took some time to expand and build my customer base. Also, one week prior to me starting my business my dear aunt Margaret passed and I was devastated. Knowing how proud she would have been of me is what keeps me focused and thriving to accomplish all of my goals.

The purpose and vision of starting Givens Auto Glass was to offer premier auto glass replacement services that is second to none. Our mission statement “Where Customer Service and Quality are our expertise,” is the driving force that keeps us excelling. Rather it’s getting your windshield replaced or a Lane Departure Recalibration, we always want our customers to know that we seek their satisfaction more than anything. What makes me most proud is knowing that we are serving others by providing honest service with integrity that reflects morality. These attributes are what sets Givens Auto Glass apart from our competitors. How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is being surrounded by the love and peace that my family provides. Being married to my loving wife, Lawanda, for the past 14 years has truly been a honor. I am so thankful that the most high decided to place her and our children into my life! We have four beautiful children that keep me going and youthful. Rather it’s playing football, basketball, fishing, riding bikes, playing pool, going bowling, playing board games, watching movies, going to the beach, attending sporting events, or having family reading time, I truly enjoy every moment with my children. They are truly a blessing that I am forever thankful for! I am also thankful for my mom and dad for my good upbringing that helped mold me into the man I am today. Your selfless contributions are greatly appreciated and I am forever thankful!
