Conversations with “Grand”

Today we’d like to introduce you to “Grand”.

44-year-old veteran emcee, from Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. Grand has been rapping seriously since 17 years old, in 1993. Back then, he was part of a 4 man group, with three other local emcees, called Ghostland. They built a respected fan base the years we were active until 1997. Then he made his first demo, 5 songs in 2004. Then, soon after, his first EP Hold Tight was released independently on my own label, Regement Records, after starting his own indie label, with the intent of presenting himself as an artist. The opportunity of recording exposure without necessarily waiting around for a record deal grand* released his first full-length mixtape of 12 songs, titled ‘grand larceny vol1 stealing the game, which made à good impact for him now, as a solo artist. He then debuted his first high-quality music videos soon after he began work on his follow-up mixtape, Grand Larceny Vol. 2: Life After Theft. This one dropped in 2012. This time it’d be a collective click effort for his label titled regement army mixtape vol 1: now n 2020, he has completed the upcoming debut album blessings freures & achievements* 12 full length new bangers. With the addition of a previously released bonus track he chose to have very little guest features as far as rappers because he wanted to showcase his talent on the mic first, grand has a surprise feature with a celebrity he’s leaving as a surprise, until the album release date with the release of blessings failures & achievements* I hope to push the boundaries, sonically and socially in hip hop all the while broadening my legacy in the genre to a new larger audience

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it hasn’t always been easy. I’ve had to navigate being a father raising a family, working a 9 to 5 for years in the nursing industry and still pursuing my dream as a major hip hop recording artist, on a limited budget.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am hip hop artist, musician ( I’m musically trained to play piano, drums and percussionist, as well as music theory.) and CEO of my very own independent record label, Regement Records.

I’m mostly proud of establishing my record label as an official LLC business in July of 2024, trademarking our logo and adding 5 artist to our labels roster. They are DNY CALI, MOZARK DAMASTAMIND, BOGARD, SLIMM TURNA and our RNB artist YANA.

I’m known with my audience for inspiring, engaging, motivational, street based hip hop. Focused on success, without skipping the struggle.

What sets me apart is a high level of lyricism that is accessible and still enjoyable to the listener, while still incorporating a raw, fun vibe.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by doing what I love, with my talent and using it to empower myself, my family, and artists, towards financial freedom. All while staying true to myself and keeping my peace.
