Hi Holly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Wanderlust Event Company began as a culmination of my passion for creativity, organization, and bringing people together. Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, I was surrounded by a vibrant culture that sparked my love for events. After gaining over a decade of experience in the industry I began my journey with roles in sales, hotel event management, venue operations, and catering, gaining a deep understanding of what it takes to orchestrate seamless events.

Five years ago, I relocated to St. Petersburg, Florida, drawn by its vibrant energy and stunning coastal backdrop. This move sparked the inspiration to start Wanderlust Event Company, a business founded on creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for bringing visions to life. The name Wanderlust reflects my love for travel and exploration, which often inspires the unique touches I incorporate into every wedding and event.

While St. Petersburg is home, I spend half my time traveling back to Atlanta, where my roots run deep and where I’ve nurtured a strong network in the event industry. As a travel agent, I also specialize in planning destination weddings and events, seamlessly combining my expertise in event planning with my passion for travel.

Our approach emphasizes collaboration, creativity, and connection. I believe in “community over competition” and have built the business through partnerships with other vendors, networking, and a dedication to showcasing my work on platforms that reach new audiences.

Outside of planning, I find inspiration in traveling and spending time at the beach with my golden retriever puppy, Finnley. These moments of relaxation and connection fuel my creativity and passion for making every event extraordinary.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road—building Wanderlust Event Company has come with its fair share of challenges. Transitioning from working in established venues and catering teams to running my own business was a major shift. I had to learn to wear many hats, from marketing and client relations to accounting and logistics, while still maintaining the creative vision that drives my passion.

One of the toughest challenges was establishing a presence in competitive markets like St. Petersburg and Atlanta. Networking and building relationships with other vendors was crucial, but it took time to gain trust and recognition. Early on, I often questioned if I was doing enough or if I was on the right path, especially in a field where everyone brings unique strengths to the table. Over time, I realized that embracing collaboration and staying authentic to my style and values would set Wanderlust Event Company apart.

The unpredictable nature of events, especially in Florida’s coastal climate, has been one of the biggest challenges in running Wanderlust Event Company. Unlike my earlier experience in Atlanta, where the event season is more clearly defined, Florida’s year-round appeal as a wedding and event destination brings unique demands. With its sunny allure, St. Petersburg draws couples and clients from all over, but it also comes with the constant risk of weather surprises like sudden rain showers, intense heat, or even hurricane threats during peak seasons.

Planning outdoor events in Florida has required me to develop a strong skill set in contingency planning. I’ve learned to prioritize weather monitoring, build flexibility into timelines, and ensure every event has a detailed backup plan—whether it’s securing tents, arranging alternative indoor spaces, or creating shaded areas to keep guests comfortable. Staying calm under pressure is critical, as there’s no room for panic when you’re the one people rely on to solve unexpected problems.

Navigating Florida’s unique event calendar was also an adjustment. In Atlanta, event seasons were more predictable, with the busiest times generally falling in spring and fall. In Florida, however, the warm climate and influx of destination clients mean the business doesn’t slow down in quite the same way. Learning to manage my time, energy, and resources year-round has been essential, as the traditional “off-season” in other markets often overlaps with Florida’s busiest months.

While the challenges of both climates and business seasons have been vastly different, the experience I gained in Atlanta helped me build a strong foundation. I’ve combined my early skills with the adaptability Florida demands, and it’s shaped me into a planner who thrives under pressure and can deliver memorable events no matter the circumstances. It’s been a learning curve, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding to see how those experiences enhance the trust my clients place in me.

Despite these hurdles, each challenge has been an opportunity to grow, refine my approach, and better serve my clients. Seeing the joy on their faces when an event comes to life makes every bump in the road worthwhile. Today, I’m proud of the progress I’ve made, and I’m excited about where Wanderlust Event Company is headed.

At Wanderlust Event Company, my work revolves around creating unforgettable experiences for weddings, corporate events, and social gatherings. I specialize in transforming my clients’ visions into reality, whether it’s an intimate beach wedding, a grand ballroom celebration, or a corporate retreat that perfectly balances professionalism and fun. My focus is always on designing events that reflect my clients’ unique personalities and goals while ensuring the planning process feels seamless and enjoyable.

What sets me apart is my ability to balance creativity and meticulous attention to detail. I take pride in my organizational skills and knack for problem-solving, but what truly drives me is the opportunity to infuse a sense of magic and personal touch into every event. My clients often tell me they feel seen, heard, and supported throughout the planning process—a compliment that means the world to me.

I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built in the industry and the trust my clients place in me. Collaboration is at the heart of what I do.
