Today we’d like to introduce you to Ingrin Clark.
Hi Ingrin, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My love for hair started at 9, playing with a Bratz doll head and imagining all the styles I could create. After turning 18, I got my first real salon experience as a shampoo assistant, and that’s when I knew working with hair was my calling. I went on to graduate from cosmetology school in 2017, and over the years I’ve specialized in locs—retwists, trims, and custom styles—helping every client leave feeling confident and uniquely themselves. Being a loctician for me isn’t just about hair.. it’s about creativity, connection, and making people feel amazing in their own skin.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been smooth—starting from scratch building clientele, keeping up with trends, practicing patience through slow peaks and fast peaks, working long hours, and trying to maintain positivity through it all—but every obstacle has been worth the journey. Each challenge taught me resilience, creativity, and the value of staying committed to my craft.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m Ingrin Clark.. I’m a loctician specializing in retwists, trims, and custom loc styles, known for creating looks that let my clients shine with confidence. What sets me apart is the bond I build with everyone in my chair—most people tell me they feel instantly comfortable, and I love that connection. I’m proud to do what I love every day, and every challenge along the way has been worth it. My inner child would be proud of turning a childhood passion into a career that brings joy, creativity, and confidence to others.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could give advice to anyone starting out in this industry, it would be to remember that patience is everything. Building your skills and clientele from scratch takes time, and there will be slow peaks and fast peaks along the way—both are part of the journey. I wish I had known early on the importance of balancing creativity with business sense, staying on top of trends without comparing yourself to others, and taking care of your mental and physical health while working long hours. Most importantly, I’d tell myself—and anyone starting out—to trust the process, stay consistent, and never lose sight of why you started. The road won’t always be smooth, but every challenge is worth it when you’re doing something you love.
