Today we’d like to introduce you to Iyana Ferrell
Hi Iyana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Iyana (Kasualtee) Ferrell is a female rapper, songwriter, vocal producer and engineer from Virginia. She has written/composed for artist such as YK Osiris, Beyonce, Dan + Shay, Katy Nichole and worked with several Multi Platinum/Grammy award winning producers.
Kasualtee was born on May 3, 1993 as (Iyana Phillips) and is a native of Emporia, Virginia. She started writing, recording and mixing her own music with her siblings Darius and Devon in their family studio at 13 years old. Kasualtee was also apart of her High School marching band at Greensville County High School (G-Force) 7th – 11th grade as a trumpet player. She took reading and writing sheet music from band into her music career as a songwriter and producer.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been far from a smooth road. I’ve been told no a million times before receiving one yes. I learned earlier on to do it not for the money but because I love it. I tell people all the time, if I was doing it for the money I would have quit a long time ago. The music industry is small because everyone knows everyone and at times it can be cliqued up. You have to be consistent and always have the material to back you when pitching yourself.For the most part I’ve been independent and doing everything all on my own but I’ve been blessed with some amazing people in my corner to help push my catalog. But if I had of quit all those times I said I would I wouldn’t be here today. Also a special thank you to God, my husband Demetre and son Zaiir and family for motivating and pushing me to follow my dreams. Having a supportive family has been such a blessing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a songwriter, vocal producer and engineer. I have worked with some of your favorite artist and been apart of songs you’ve heard on the radio. I’ve been perfecting my craft since I was 13 years old and have made it my business to provide high quality music. Often times I’m told that the demos I create sound radio ready. So now I work with a team of other talented people to create playbooks for artist. All they have to do is copy and paste. It’s just that easy.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a people’s person. Always had everyone laughing. Most of my cousins called me their favorite. I spent most of my childhood with my grandparents and boy they would tell you how mischievous and crazy I was. But there was never a dull moment around me.
