Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Bates-Robinson.
Hi Jada, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was little, I always knew I wanted to be an influence in some way. I remember always wanting to be an actress and grew up going to theatre camps and doing plays and musicals starting at the age of six in the small city of Kalamazoo, Michigan where I’m from. I would always makeup dances to perform for my family, write these imaginary stories with my sister, and perform at talent shows in grade school. When I moved to Atlanta in 2015, that’s when I knew God had a bigger plan for me. In 2020 is when I started training for TV/Film acting, and I was able to book 6 short films with 4 lead roles and 1 commercial that featured a very popular music artist. But I knew God wanted me to do more. I began posting innocent bible verses on Instagram, and within 24 hours, I had over 1 million views on my post. I couldn’t believe it. I started posting more bible verses and gained over 6.3 million views within a month! Even though God has always been a part of my life, I NEVER would’ve thought the impact of my posts would reach millions of people. Now, I am a Christian lifestyle influencer! And I hope my posts will be the foundation and gain me the recognition that will help me further my acting career in the future.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all! 2023 was the first year in my life where I have read the Bible consistently. Even though I grew up going to church with my family when I was younger, I felt like I wasn’t gaining a close relationship with God because my heart wasn’t in the right place for him. I grew up being bullied, having close people in my life turn on me, lie on me, and I even have had thoughts about ending my life due to depression. But when I tell you, God never gave up me and held me so close through everything I had gone through in my life. I would have never imagined how much God had in store for me if I had given up. I am living proof that God knows exactly what you’re doing and he will make a way out of no way!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As of right now, I am a student at Georgia State University studying Arts Administration. I am always apart of an amazing leadership ministry called ‘Delight’ where I’m a ministry leader at my college! In the future, I would love to help manage a nonprofit organization as one of my future careers. I am always a Christian lifestyle social media influencer on Instagram. And when I am completely finished with school I want to branch out to different talent agencies to start a professional acting career! I feel like what sets me apart from different influencers and what got me popular very quickly was my passion and love for Jesus and not being afraid to post about him! I feel like there aren’t that many Christian influencers on social media. In my opinion, posting about Christianity on social media can be very intimidating! Just because there are so many people who are against it and will leave the rudest and nastiest comments about it. But the positive always outweighs the negatives. I love the community I’ve built on my platform, and I am most proud of sharing the word of Jesus every single day!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being confident and unique is definitely a big part! If I were to just post everything that everybody else was posting about, I would blend in and nothing would be special about me. I am a young, black women making content about the lord! Other people my age are posting and promoting money, drugs, unwanted pregnancy and just living in the world. Those are things that aren’t different and things we see every day. But when someone is able to step outside the box and be confident in their ability to make a positive change, that is what will open doors and make you successful!
