Today we’d like to introduce you to Jade Ladson.
Hi Jade, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After relocating to Atlanta with two kids, my goal was providing for my family while advancing my career. I never knew that these two items would cause me to miss out on precious memories with the kids, but while traveling for business my daughter took her first steps and I had to hear about it via a phone call. At that moment I knew I had to make a change and find a way to provide for the kids while also being present for them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nope, it definitely hasn’t been a crystal staircase. Since I jumped into being a business owner purely from an emotional decision and with very little preparation… I had to bump my head a few times. My contracts were poorly written and that’s putting it mildly. My very first contract was a little more than a half page long. I was working and accepting payment at the end of the wedding/event and a couple of times that payment never came. When client’s budget didn’t align with MY vision or wasn’t something I could add to my portfolio… I either cut my fee or paid for extra decor out of my fee.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a certified wedding/event planner that also offers education and mentorship for aspiring creatives. During Covid-19 I also started providing consulting services for new entrepreneurs and wedding venues. What makes me most proud is being able to help other creatives avoid some of the costly mistakes I made along the way. I love being able to be a part of their business during it’s early stages so that I can guide them before “social media” steers them down the wrong path. Aside from my passion about weddings, and love for helping others. I genuinely love seeing people become an entrepreneur, even if it’s a side hustle I just love watching a dream grow into fruition.
