Conversations with Jivonne Feliciano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jivonne Feliciano. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Jivonne Feliciano

Jivonne Feliciano hails from Bloomfield, Connecticut. Raised by a single mother, with support from his great grandparents, Jivonne’s upbringing reflects resilience and determination. He is mixed with Jamaican and Puerto Rican heritage, lending a unique perspective to his endeavors.

During high school, he spent four years working at Foot Locker, where he witnessed the frustration of sneaker enthusiasts grappling with skyrocketing resale prices. It was this firsthand experience that fueled his passion for inclusivity, leading him to found SneakerCard, a fintech startup aimed at revolutionizing the sneaker shopping experience by democratizing access to coveted kicks.

Now today, a sophomore economics major at Morehouse College, serving as President of Morehouse Model UN, Maurice Washington Student Leadership Ambassador, and University Innovation Fellow with Stanford University’s Hasso Plattner Institute of Design, and many other roles and academic pursuits under his belt, Jivonne is on a mission to drive innovation and make a positive impact on his community.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Along Jivonne Feliciano’s journey, several challenges shaped his path. As a child raised by a single mother, navigating financial constraints was a constant struggle. Additionally, balancing work at Foot Locker with academic responsibilities posed its own set of challenges during his high school years. Even attending Morehouse College, he struggles to pay for his tuition and has been working to lower his attendance by being involved in various programs, etc… to help him stay at Morehouse.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Jivonne Feliciano’s proudest achievement is spearheading the revival of the Model UN program at Morehouse College. This initiative brought in notable figures like Mr. Elliott Harris, Former United Nations Chief Economist and Assistant Secretary-General of Economic Development.

Welcoming such esteemed guests sparked Jivonne’s global perspective and creativity in addressing problems. His passion for raising awareness about global issues was ignited through this experience, shaping his dedication to making a positive impact on a larger scale.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One surprising fact that many people may not know about Jivonne is that he is actually a fraternal twin. He shares this unique bond with his brother, Divonne Feliciano, who is older than him by just 60 seconds.

Growing up, Jivonne never experienced solitude as he always had his twin brother by his side. Their close relationship has been a constant source of support and companionship throughout their lives, shaping Jivonne’s character and fortitude.
