Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Parker.
Hi Josh , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Thank you for having me. I have been a licensed Realtor for over ten years. I began my career as a leasing agent before transitioning to an independent agent in 2016. Since then I have served in over 300 real estate transactions serving buyer and seller clients in an array of deals ranging from single family homes to large commercial developments. This career path has been very challenging but equally rewarding throughout the years. I would say the challenge and variety is what I love most about this path. Every client is different and every deal is different which brings endless opportunities to help clients and continue learning. Experience is the best teacher. When clients choose to work with me as their Realtor, they’re benefiting from years of hands-on experience that has sharpened my negotiation skills and strengthened my ability to troubleshoot when challenges arise.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There was a huge learning curve the first four years of my career. I had to learn how to negotiate on behalf of my clients, market, and properly write contracts. Not to mention the time it took to build the network of lenders, inspectors, and other contractors to help serve clients. However, I stayed consistent and persistent throughout those struggles leading me to become a top producing agent at my brokerage and local Board of Realtors.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a local Realtor, this profession is about more than just selling homes. Becoming a local Realtor means being a community builder and a public servant. There is so much that goes into this business, and my success has come from putting people first. It’s truly a lifestyle. That’s why I give back in every way possible—by sponsoring local sports organizations and volunteering my time. I love high school sports and proudly sponsor Monroe Area High School softball, basketball, baseball, track, and my favorite sport, football, each year. I also volunteer as a coach for a local youth football team and have done so for the past four years. It’s a meaningful opportunity to give back and teach local youth the value of teamwork, while helping develop not only their physical skills but their character. This commitment is what sets me apart in this business, and I take great pride in serving others.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
There have been many people who have helped me along my journey—not only in my real estate career, but in life overall. My family, especially my late grandparents, Junior and Cunoy Parker, have been among my greatest influences. During times when things weren’t going well or major challenges arose, they consistently offered the advice and encouragement I needed to keep pressing forward. They also taught me an important lesson early in life that has stayed with me into adulthood: treat others the way you want to be treated. Practicing that simple rule has helped me build a credible reputation, not only in my business life but in my personal life as well. Other influences include a close friend of mine, now a fellow local Realtor, Brandon Peters. He encouraged me to take my first sales job in 2012, which ultimately led me into the real estate world. Ryan Hunley is another major influence. As one of the first CEOs I worked for in the construction and sales industry, he saw potential in me that I didn’t yet see in myself and set a strong example of consistency—showing me that results come over time with discipline and effort. Holly Turner Green also played a pivotal role by recommending me and helping me secure my first job in real estate as a leasing agent. Anita Peters, the first broker I worked with as an independent agent, invested significant time teaching me the ethics of the real estate business and what it truly takes to succeed independently. Mike Weathers, my current broker, has provided me with an incredible opportunity to grow my real estate business in the way I envisioned. There are many others I could name, and they know who they are. Thank you all for your impact, your guidance, and everything you have done for me.
