Conversations with Juanita McCoy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juanita McCoy.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I really got started by helping out a big sister/mentor in ministry with her book release. At first, it was just simple things like creating videos and content she needed. But because I’m naturally detail-oriented and like things to be done at a high level of excellence, I started diving deeper. I began researching how to create effective content, exploring the tools and apps other creators were using, and studying what worked well.

What started as a small, simple task quickly grew into a real passion. That first opportunity opened doors to other gifts I didn’t even realize I had, like event planning, building social media presence, and creating engaging content for others. All of this has become part of building my business, Blueprint 316. I see it all as God-given gifts, and I just love tapping into them and helping others share their message.

I’ve always been a hardworking person, but this journey allowed me to move beyond what I thought I could do in more traditional roles, like retail, and really step into the creative and entrepreneurial gifts God has given me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Around the time I started pursuing this path, I was recovering from a serious car accident, which forced me to take time off from the job I was working at. That eventually led to me leaving that job. I had consulted with God about it, but I didn’t fully understand what I was walking into. I found myself asking, Am I supposed to find another job? Am I still supposed to follow the 9 to 5 path? It felt like everything that could happen was happening all at once.

One of my biggest challenges, honestly, was believing that I was truly graced for this. By that, I mean trusting that God had given me the gifts and the ability to do this work well. It was a struggle not to self-sabotage, not to doubt myself, and not to compare myself to others. You start wondering, Am I really good at this? Can I really do this? But through it all, I learned to lean on faith and trust that these gifts are God-given, and that with persistence and dedication, I could grow into them. That belief, even in the moments of uncertainty, became one of the most important things that carried me forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Blueprint 316 is a multi-faceted business where I help people and organizations share their message creatively and effectively. I build and manage social media presence, including posting content, responding to messages, and creating engaging content for audiences. I also do content shoots for social media, events, or businesses, and offer reel packages to help clients maintain a consistent and professional presence online.

I’ve also tapped into event planning and have spearheaded major events, while continuing to grow in areas like video editing and content strategy. Most of this is something I discovered along the way, things I never thought I could do at first, but I’ve learned by observing, practicing, and trusting the process.

I’m most proud of seeing the progress and success over the past year. If you had told me a year ago that I would be here today, I probably wouldn’t have believed it.

What sets me apart is the foundation of my work, my faith. I consult God in every decision and step of the process. Many of the ideas and strategies I implement come from seeking His guidance. I hold myself to a standard of excellence, and at the core of it all, my heart is focused on serving others in whatever capacity God calls me to. That combination of faith, intentionality, and service is what truly drives my work and sets me apart.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
To be completely honest, much of what I do comes from observing and experimenting with editing tools on social media apps, and I also utilize platforms like CapCut to create and enhance content. I’ve been blessed to meet and receive guidance from several major content creators, which has helped me refine my skills and approach. Beyond that, I’m always exploring new tools, resources, and techniques to continue learning and advancing my abilities. It’s a combination of hands on practice, mentorship, and ongoing curiosity that helps me do my best in my work and life.
