Today we’d like to introduce you to Julian Chew. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Krypt began in January of 2019 and started playing a plethora of shows prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic in January of 2021, they put out their debut release, “Enter the Krypt,” in memory of their late bassist, Jesse Clay, who passed earlier that month. They decided to move forward with Brandon Carpenter on bass.
They began to play shows again in the fall of that year. In September 2021, Krypt signed to Terminus Hate City Records (an Atlanta-based record label). Since then, Krypt started to put out multiple singles in the new year of 2022, leading up to their first full-length, “Ripe With Sin,” which released on November 11th, 2022 on vinyl and all streaming services, with plans to tour in support of the record in 2023.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been some ups and downs throughout our careers. We had to deal with the problems of the COVID-19 pandemic, having a band member pass away, etc. but we have learned to move forward as best as we can so we can do the best we can.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We write music in the genre of thrash metal, typically. What I think sets us apart from other bands in our genre is that we have influences from all over the metal and hardcore music genres. Whether that’s black metal, thrash metal, death metal, hardcore, grindcore, etc., we try to mix it in with the basis of thrash so it ends up appealing to any metal lover. We are extremely proud of our new record, “Ripe With Sin” and can’t wait to push even harder.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Put your best effort into what you do/what your craft is but most importantly; have fun doing it.
