Conversations with Justin Norman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Norman.

Hi Justin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, all we did in my city was hoop. That’s all we knew, growing up in Montgomery, Alabama it’s a small city so it’s easy to get caught up in the system, sports was our way out. I hooped all the way through my senior year, a school a two was showing interest but nothing really to major. I decided to just not force it and use the opportunity to learn new things. I was always interested in art as art music, photography, videography, etc. I got my first camera like 2017, it was a canon rebel t5 I believe. Took me some time, but I just kept working.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has been an up and down journey. I took my biggest loss back in 2020 when all my equipment got stolen. My camera, computer, hard drives, etc. all gone… My whole career basically was erased and I had to start back from ground up. Even though it was unfortunate, I’m kinda grateful that it happen because through the devastation, I just turnt the grind up and just locked in on another level. It made me better in so many aspects, I just started to understand you gone take losses but that’s just them obstacles you got to overcome…

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My main thing is sports, particularly basketball. I just started shooting sports in 2021 and I really enjoyed it because I’m still a fan of the game. I still hoop myself. The main thing I’m proud of is just building a brand that provides good energy and hope to my hometown or where ever in the world. I want to help people get an opportunity to be on a platform where they can be seen and recognized for their talents. If anything sets me apart, I think is I just love the art of the videography, photography. I’m gone make money regardless but I love creating content.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I think it will continue to improve and expand. It’s literally teenagers picking up mirrorless cameras and going crazy. I learned everything I know on YouTube alone so that just tell you the times we in. You just gotta grind.
