Conversations with Kaiza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaiza .

Kaiza

Hi Kaiza, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Thank you for having me again! (It’s been just around a year since our last interview.) I’m more than happy to. I started out in classical music when I was younger. It’s the kind of background that sticks with you when you branch out into other genres like I did, so you’ll hear touches of it in my current music. Since we last talked, I’ve been fortunate enough to sign a deal with Love Renaissance and Sony Orchard. They’re an absolute dream to work with, Love Renaissance’s Atlanta studio space which I work out of regularly is filled with some of the most hardworking and talented creatives in the business. I mainly record between their studio space and in London now, where I have a great producer who’s worked with me on a few of my upcoming releases. I believe strongly that I’ve gotten to where I am today by making my own luck and sticking to my dream. There are plenty of times where I’ve felt overwhelmed or exhausted from late studio sessions or music events, but the reason I’ve been able to get to where I currently stand is because I’ve always shown up and given my best. I also think, from a lyrical perspective, it’s been lovely to watch my songwriting develop with time and experience. I’m very excited for everyone to hear the growth I’ve had as an artist in my upcoming songs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not necessarily, I think some have had it easier and some have had it way more challenging – it’s really all a matter of perspective in my opinion. When I first started my journey as a music artist, I wasn’t really sure where to start. There’s not a set blueprint for it, everyone has a different story and path to take. I feel very lucky to have had a background in music already, but stepping into being a recording artist was a whole foreign world of its own. Looking back on it now, the process seems straightforward, but there were definitely times where I felt like I was sailing about without clear navigation in the beginning. That’s why now that I’ve figured out a good structure, I love nothing more than to give guidance and advice to new artists. I’ve taken a few promising artists under my wing already but there’s always room for more – anyone who reads this is more than welcome to reach out and I’d love to talk shop.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m planning to release a lot more frequently in the next few months. I’ve just released my first single in a while called ‘This Love’. The focus is really just on continuing to create and to live a life worth writing about.

***What sets you apart from others?
I don’t know if I’d look at it in that way. I think every artist has their own style and their own sense of flair. I just sing and write what feels right, what feels like me. I’m not afraid to delve into my emotions when I need to, and I’m always writing something new. I have so many unreleased songs I need to put out still but my style changes as I grow. I’m really excited to share my new singles though which will be releasing very soon.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m really into music documentaries lately. They’re super insightful into the process of artist journeys.
