Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Ray. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Kelly Ray is an on-air radio personality, TV personality, actress, event host, and content creator who currently serves up personality and charisma on her online IG Live series titled “On the Raydar.” Born and raised in the metropolitan New Orleans area, Kelly is a 2019 Louisiana State University (LSU) graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies.
Kelly has worked at several news and radio stations, including The Reveille newspaper, WBRZ-TV, KSLU 91.1 FM, WWl-TV, and WHIV-FM. She also had a segment on Kierra M’s show ‘The Day Party’ on Southside Dash Radio titled “Spitting Game and Spilling Hearts” where she talked about all of the latest relationship and love tea.
Kelly moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2021 to continue her career as a personality. Since then, she has hosted several events in Atlanta including: Vue Gala, the Smile Heaux Foundation Media Mixer, the Style Suite Fashion Show, and the Shades of Melanin Brand Showcase. She also has served as emcee at several festivals and award shows in Louisiana including: Andouille Festival, LSU’s Fall Festival, LSU’s homecoming talent show, and the New Orleans Fried Chicken Festival.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. People often think that the path to success will be a straight road, but it is not. Sometimes we end up taking turns and loops that actually put us exactly where we were meant to be. I have heard a lot of ‘NOs’ during my career, but I always remind myself that when one door closes, another one will open. It is those very same ‘NOs’ that pushed me to create my own talk series. I decided to create my own opportunities instead of waiting for others to give me one.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the host of an Instagram live talk series titled ‘On The Raydar‘ which highlights industry TrailBlazers and Disruptors contributing to the culture in a meaningful way. I like to refer to myself as the Cajun Peach since I am from Louisiana but I am currently living in Atlanta. Ultimately, I am a professional media personality. I strive to connect authentically with each of my guests and facilitate conversations that will empower my community.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing that people may not know about me is that I am actually pretty shy. I am considered an ambivert which means I exhibit qualities of both introversion and extroversion and can flip into either depending on my mood, context, and goals.
