Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin B Ploth
Hi Kevin B, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
First let’s talk about the fact that there is no “me” without the “we”!
I did not get here with out the help of my parents, my team, cast, producers, and sponsors.
There is no way any of this can be accomplished or achieved without them.
All of these people have been with me and some yea for more than forty years to more recently collaborating on other projects.
The vanguard consists of Benny Harrison (from 1988), Michael Sean McGuiness, Paul Wagar, Susan Sulby, Nancy Contra, Walter Dallas(RIP), Johnny Hobbs, and Myreon Arslan(my agent now) since 1990.
Recent times Vanessa Thorpe, Doug LeBlanc, Julie LeBlanc, Kelley Poling, Jeffry Ross, Mioke Candles, The Cigar Saver, Doug Marcaida, Anthony DeLongis, Charlie Parish, Dr. Marty Urban, Dr. Mike Harper (Patriot Tactical), Norm McCleod(PROPPER Uniforms), David Diaz(Buenos Diaz Media), JD Wesley, Meredith Kalkbrenner, Dr Aaron Ozze, Eddy Rich, RJ Marcaida, Chris Rich,Jackie McCarthy , Sara Touijer, Shawn Parsons(Hell if I Know), even some new supporters PitBull Tactical, 51 Fifty Fire Arms, DTV Arms.
Two pertinent quotes from Teilhard de Chardin:
“There is almost a sensual longing for communion with others who have a large vision. The immense fulfillment of the friendship between those engaged in furthering the evolution of consciousness has a quality impossible to describe.”
“Our duty, as men and women, is to proceed as if limits to our ability did not exist. We are collaborators in creation.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth road! Hahahahah! No road is ever smooth or what we envisioned in our minds eye…reality is and always will be the catalyst that differs, defines and separates all who participate or take a journey.
Some of the biggest struggles and still is a struggle finding funding believer’s. The entertainment world has been perversely twisted in needing names and wanting things a certain way. I say to both that is wrong in every way. From excessive salaries to spending and waste that is mind blowing.
To shooting hours of footage because it is all digital now that in the end never gets used. Table reads that waste money and time.
The other struggles are the incentive reactions to my script even individual talent having their hand out or opinions not asked for. I will it chase people and I remind them as does the PM PC JD Wesly that there is over one thousand two hundred seventy six people who will replace you even our production team. We get a lot of emails from people wanting work. At the same time emails from cast and crew having melt downs to fits but none have the decency to call…..like herding cats or managing adult children.
I feel on of the biggest insults is when people don’t read even after you tell them is is a “Read Only” script. Their ego’s or poor training take over. Funny when seventy percent of cast and crew read hundred and seventy six pages while just a few think they are above it all. Insulting to one who has put pen to paper while they did not.
If we did not have struggles or speed bumps things would not be as exciting or even help one grow or be better.
I know nothing and only know how I got this far.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As for collaborations. At ARTIMIS we look for IP’s(Intellectual Property), people who are hungry to work and want to have a voice. We prioritize Veterans, First Responders and their family members.
For example working with Travis Harman a veteran who wrote REMOTE OUTPOST being with the US ARMY in Afghanistan and now we are working on making this either a television show or a feature. We shall see.
In other areas we look for musicians, fine artists, writers, talent, photographers you name it and if they are veterans or a first responder even better.
We also picked up “Not Your Fathers Coast Guard” by Matthew Mitchell and “When your Family Says No” by Laya Martin.
From a corporate point of view we are looking for and to work with ANGEL INVESTORS or Seed
Funding to help grow all of our potential shows that have distribution but need good cash flow to pay for all these talented people.
I have been able to get this far with all the people mentioned in the previous paragraphs as well as my family. More hand up the better not hand outs.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
First of all this “Journey” never ends…. As the line in GIANT “…we begin where we end and end where we begin…” a Buddha like sentiment that’s simple but yet complex.
Tempering, patience, surrounding oneself with good counsel and not egos. All so make sure to allow the over fifty crowd plenty of bathroom breaks and no meetings after three o-clock. A bit of humor there but a heap of truth.
Another important lesson is to not cave in, give up or allow sabotage to enter your mind and your creativity.
