Today we’d like to introduce you to Khalil Henderson.
Hi Khalil, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been into photography as a teen but at the time didn’t know which path I wanted to go. Fast forward to my adult life, 25, I got an opportunity to assist Musette Collins, a phenomenal Photographer from Jacksonville, FL and it sparked a fire inside. Soon after, a few deals fell through about a month later and I purchased my first camera. Since then, I’ve studied day and night on how to become better and better.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Of course not, however it makes me better. A few struggles is understanding my own style and not trying to duplicate another Photographer. And if I’m honest, having patience for clients especially when you have to keep the professionalism in check.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Well aside from just Photography, I just graduated college with a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Kennesaw State University. Since I was knee high I’ve had a passion for cars and I’ve finally made that accomplish despite the many obstacles. Mostly around my area, I’m known for being the busy, hardworking young black man that has many hidden talents while Influencing others. As I continue this journey, I’m most proud of my commitment to being a man of God. Over the course of 2021, I struggled and in August, I almost lost my life in a car accident. Since then, I’ve thanked God for his love and mercy. I’ve made it personal to ensure I can impact someone through God’s purpose for me. All while saying that, what sets me apart is 90% of the time you see me, I’m alone, I have a lone wolf mentality and it drives me to my purpose more than anything. There no better teacher than yourself, from there you’re your great critic. I’m committed to showing the world black men are very much capable of anything we want in life. Even if that means stepping outside the norm and defying the stereotypes.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Going to Disney World, it was magical.
