Today we’d like to introduce you to Khari Jones Jr.
Hi Khari, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got started in the entertainment industry while I was college. Connected with like-minded individuals and shortly after I started to find my creative abilities. T.I., Migos, and Webbie were some of the first artists interviewed coming into the business. After my early success, I continued to travel the world and realized there are bigger opportunities to reach. In order to reach those goals I knew I couldn’t work a job so independence was the only option. In 2018, I left grad school to pursue my dreams in Los Angeles and my brand expanded all over including Houston, Nashville, Las Vegas, Oakland and Atlanta.
Providing coverage for media outlets in Los Angeles has allowed me to build my social currency and make a name for myself all over the country. Interviewing NBA players and entertainers the 5-7 years was just the beginning. Everything is starting to shift and I am finding more hidden abilities. When I first to Los Angeles, I was in the studio with Grammy-nominated producers Mike N Keys helping with marketing. Now the last eight months, I’ve been in the studio recording and big things are coming.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road was not easy. One of my biggest hurdles was finding resources since I started from scratch after leaving my grad program. Moving to another city without your family is always tough but I am a resilient person. I was already aware of the challenges that were going to be place. It’s important to use your past success to determine your future success.
Having the tools to overcome adversity prepares me any challenge that I may come across. Another challenge is figuring out what skill you want to use show your art. We have so many talents that it’s difficult to just put yourself in the box. Emotional intelligence is key to overcoming the struggles.
No dream worth having comes easy, which is why I embrace the journey. Taking time for your mental health is essential. If you don’t make time for yourself, you will find yourself overwhelmed. The pandemic helped me slow down and gain a new perspective on where I was at in life.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a creative, I specialize in my storytelling ability. I am known for inspiring people to chase their goals. Most recently, the world has caught on to my media coverage with LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kyrie Irving and more.
What sets me apart is being able to relate to entertainers and athletes. I am able to tell the real story and make it relatable to readers. And skill that I have is the way I network. It’s one of my core strengths that allows me to accomplish any goal no matter the location.
I’m most proud of the way I continue to evolve and know my truth worth. Never complacent with where I am. Knowing my worth has saved me from staying in situations where I know I can’t grow. I’m so proud of four years of being independent and making it in a city where others have tried and failed. I have reached a new version of myself in 2022. Music from me will be released this year.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
What helps me stay my best is eating healthy. In 2020 I started my plant-based journey and I have more energy to create and unlock new levels that I didn’t know I was capable of. My best years are ahead of me.
