Conversations with Kwēn Dizzy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kwēn Dizzy.

Kwēn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Kwēn Dizzy started making her mark at a young age back in Brooklyn during the age of A Tribe Called Quest, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte , Wu-Tang Clan, Biggie Smalls; influenced by them and so many of the other sounds of New York. She became an influencer herself, musically, from dancing in school to becoming a part of a band, and even being a music teacher. She’s always pushed. Not only herself but those who share the same passion as her, and those who have needed her help.
Kwēn Dizzy’s path is writing her own rhymes and connecting with others through her music, bringing back the 90s flow and attitude. Some would even say there’s a psychedelic vibe to her music. She’s the full package. She’s no one to be played with. In 2022, Kwēn Dizzy dropped an album entitled Flāvors, bringing 10 tracks, that have been considered “what we need for 2022.” The album gives us rap, house, hip-hop, and pop, it hits the spot by bringing Flāvors and touches your soul.
Her latest album ‘FEAST’ shows us that she’s still the reigning Queen.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As much as we want it to be a smooth ride to success. It’s far from it. I put my heart into my craft. I’m passionate. I’m even fire. But I’m often slept on, probably because I’m not selling myself out. I have friends that have never shared a video, probably never listened to the album. Crazy because I’ve met strangers who’s supported me more than people I’ve been in with since the sandbox. So with that, it kind of hurts. But anyway, another struggle would be the finances. As an artist you have to pay for the beat, studio time, mixing, mastering, distribution, promotion, the video, and I’m sure I’m missing some. Just for these platforms to pay you .01 cent per stream. If that. Most times, people won’t go to your website and purchase your music directly. If it wasn’t for my love for the music, I would’ve probably dubbed this a lot time ago.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a Hip-Hop artist out of Brooklyn, NY. My name is Kwēn (Queen) Dizzy. I’m also a percussionist and started off as a spoken word artist. I’m most proud of where I am today. For me, I’m nowhere near where I want to be but I’ve accomplished so much in life. Attained my Bachelors and Masters degree, Army combat vet, bought a house, having a family. And I come from the projects, feel me. So I’m doing great. Grateful for life. I’m different from the others because I’m genuine, I show real love and loyalty. I wanna see us all win.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
To stay true to yourself. I’ve seen so many people switch up while trying to get into the industry it was sad. It’s important to keep originality in a world full of copies.
