Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTashia Stroman Thomas.
Hi LaTashia Stroman, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a teacher, I wanted to advance my career in education but needed to get an advanced degree to do so. In order to finance my graduate education without having to take out any more student loans than I already had I decided to try a part-time career in real estate in 2006. At one point in my life, I was teaching, selling real estate, and working on a doctorate degree. Most of my clientele consisted of my colleagues in education, parents of students that I taught, and of course family and friends. Real estate proved successful. I was able to finance my education as I sought out to do but decided to resign from my position as an assistant principal in 2019. Once I started selling real estate full time, more people started recognizing me as LaTashia-the Realtor as opposed to LaTashia-the educator. Little did they know, once an educator, always an educator. I completed my Doctor of Education degree in 2020 from Georgia Southern University and dubbed myself The Real Estate Doctor. So, I still consider myself an educator. Now, I am educating families on building wealth through home ownership and real estate investing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Real Estate is up and down, so budgeting and proper planning is essential. Just like many other industries, the pandemic brought a lot of uncertainty to real estate. However, the past two years have been my most successful and prosperous of my 16 years career.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Realtor, an independent contractor, with Scott Realty Professionals in Savannah, GA. I am most proud of helping first-time homebuyers, many of whom thought home ownership was impossible for them, achieve the dream of home ownership.
