Conversations with Lauren Champion

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Champion.

Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been a professional full-time photographer for almost two years!

I primarily specialize in boudoir/portraits and also run my studio, Studio 1927, as a rentable art studio in my hometown of Pine Mountain, GA. I began shooting boudoir in 2018 when my best friend asked me to shoot them for her in her boyfriend’s loft and I was instantly hooked. It’s obviously the most fun and creative medium of photography, as you can imagine haha, and I love how expressive it can be!

Discovering boudoir allowed me to go full-time in Jan. of 2021 and in June 2021 I opened my first studio. I often throw Content Days at my studio for other photographers and also list it as a rentable art space for others. It’s over 2,200 sq ft and features multiple rooms and sets. It’s the perfect place for photoshoots, film sets, podcasts, YouTube recordings, and workshops/meetings.

Thinking back on it, I’m grateful for how far I’ve come in just a short amount of time and can’t wait to see what I will achieve next.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a beautiful bumpy ride to get to where I am today to say the least. Not only am I a photographer, but I’m also a businesswoman too- and running a business is not for the weak, let’s just make that clear haha. There were many challenges along the way when I legalized my business and days I often cried! Starting a business blindly and alone was very daunting and scary. My education is focused in Healthcare and Science, so I had absolutely no idea what I was doing at first. Learning about all of the licenses, forms, insurance policies, contracts, system selections, taxes, etc., that go into running a business was certainly overwhelming at times. Thankfully I persevered and am now able to enjoy the success of all my hard work and dedication.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in boudoir and portrait photography and recently have opened Studio 1927 in Pine Mountain, GA. I am known primarily for my moody style of shooting and for creating a very romantic and sensual emotion in my photographs. I personally love to captivate my audience’s eye with the dramatic use of highlights and shadows, which I think has come to be my signature style and is what I’m mostly sought out for.

One thing that sets me apart from others is my outgoing personality and my ability to connect with others. I’m a very easy-going, fun, and bubbly type of girl and I have an amazing ability to make others feel at home. Clients often rave about how comfortable they feel when shooting with me and I think that’s something that really sets me apart from others. I believe in treating everyone like family which makes the experience of shooting with me much more fun and unforgettable!
