Conversations with Lily D Moore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lily D Moore.

Lily D Moore

Hi Lily D, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My acting journey: At age six, we moved to Austria, and I fell in love with the drama class. I was soon putting on shows in our garden and house for family and friends. So, when we moved back to Georgia, my mom signed me up for an acting class, and I loved it. I had found my star! I then got an agent, started auditioning, and many months/years later, I started booking jobs. Acting is my passion, my love, my friend!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not! This is a journey and not a race! You have to practice, learn lines, and audition only to learn you did not book the job. This happens most of the time. You learn how to persevere, let things go, and just keep doing what you love when rejection happens over and over and over.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am best known for being “Rebecca” on Netflix’s “Never Have I Ever”. This was a fun set and lots of awesome people. I showed I could hold my own with the big stars. I am also known for having a starring role on Hallmark’s “Color My World With Love”. This was a dream come true. The cast and crew were like family, and I learned so much from everyone. And I got to go to Canada for filming. What sets me apart… I guess you could say because I have Down Syndrome; however, I don’t let that define who I am; I define who I am.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
My family tells me I have always been dramatic and funny. I loved to put on shows, sing, and dance. I also knew learned how to advocate for myself when I did not want to do something: telling my mom I was sick so I could come home from school. I loved hanging out with my sister’s friends, who were ten years older than me. I liked being the center of attention. However, I have also had 13 surgeries on many parts of my body with long recoveries and missing a lot of school. That stunk, but maybe that’s why I make the best out of a lot of situations.
