Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Massey.
Hi Marcus, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story was inspired by Entertainment Mogul Master P while I was incarcerated in the federal Prison system in 2005. During what I call a (God moment) while incarcerated I received a newspaper article that was to be given to another inmate with the caption “Mainstrean wants in on Urban styled literature” and it was then when God green-lighted my movement and molded my future to become who I am today. In 2007 after 13 years of incarceration with God’s obedience and patience, I slowly build my independent media company Gargantuan Entertainment Co. with previous classic novels I had written while inside into turning each novel into a screenplay and completed my first movie in 2012 that was released in 2013 by eOne entertainment digitally worldwide. Since then I have been able and blessed to be a part of a lot of great projects such as The Legendary 2 PAC All Eyes On Me, and CW television series Containment.
As of today, my company was blessed to partner with Tubi, Glass Slippers, and 3 executive producers Kal Dawson, Gold MOUF FAMGOON, and Rey Mullen to produced the legendary Documentary of the Bad Boy Ent Legend Black Rob with our Project THE LAST DAYS OF BLACK ROB streaming now on Tubi. What has gotten me here today is my drive too see thru any obstacles that may come my way to live within the prosperity that God promised as I stay the course. My motto is THE STRUGGLE ….. THE CHANGE… THE PROSPERITY… I am currently in production with my new feature film titled, ONLY WAY OUT which is projected to be released in 2023.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
In doing what I love so much with being a filmmaker comes with a lot of struggles… Being independent comes with a lot of patience and being able to prove your work worth in this business. The struggles we’re having to prove that my work was worth believing in my vision to produce very great stories that we all can relate too.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a filmmaker and content producer of feature Films. I specialize in making your stories a visual reality. I am very proud of myself for being so humbly patient to see thru with God’s plans for me. What sets me apart from others is my path is real and the way I move is respected.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Great question… None of this would be possible without a team. So from those that actually helped whether financial, with their time, or hands-on for surely need to be honored for their contributions. Lisa Massey’s support started from the foundation of my company. David Pit Co-Owner/partner has been my support base as well since the foundation of GE Films.
