Today we’d like to introduce you to Marquis (Marq) Fletcher.
Marquis (Marq), we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
How did I get started?
That’s a great question.
To be honest, I never planned on becoming a Life Coach; it’s a path I stumbled upon by chance. It stems from my innate nature as a problem-solver. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been the person friends and family turned to for advice on even the most sensitive subjects. They knew that while I could be blunt, my perspective was always rooted in logic, confidentiality, and an unbiased desire to see them succeed—sometimes, I admit, wanting it for them even more than they wanted it for themselves. Without knowing it, I was already coaching: I helped family members transform business ideas into thriving companies and guided others through entire career changes, from college selection to job placement. The real turning point came during a networking event. After a casual 20-minute conversation, a gentleman told me I had just given him “the blueprint for his future.” That single statement was a revelation, and Blueprint Life Coaching was created. It put a name to the passion I had been acting on for years, a passion I now channel into my work with Blueprint Life Coaching.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, and I’d say the most significant challenge has been one of education and perception. The truth is, most individuals don’t understand the profound importance of having a Life Coach in their corner. There’s often a misconception about what we do, and my role is frequently confused with that of a mentor or a therapist. Part of my journey has been clarifying these distinctions. As a Life Coach, my work is entirely future-focused; I partner with clients to help them set and achieve specific personal or professional goals. This is quite different from a Mentor, who shares their specific expertise and experience to guide a less experienced person. It’s also critically distinct from a Therapist, a trained professional who helps clients address and heal emotional or psychological issues, often by looking at past experiences. Overcoming this hurdle is about showing people that coaching is a unique and powerful tool for building the future they desire.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve spent my entire professional life—over two decades now—in the dynamic world of the telecommunication industry. My current role is Sr. Manager of Business Intelligence for Field Finance. That title sounds very corporate, but at its heart, my job is to be a data storyteller for our senior sales leadership. I work directly with the office of our Chief Sales Officer to look beyond the spreadsheets and find the narrative hidden in the numbers. I analyze business trends and performance data to answer critical questions: Why is a product taking off? Where are our biggest opportunities? What story is the data telling us that we need to hear? My role is to translate that complex information into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that empower our sales, finance, and marketing teams to make smarter decisions.
