Conversations with Mason Marcus Burrell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mason Marcus Burrell.

Hi Mason Marcus, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Mason Marcus Burrell is a charming larger-than-life personality with his comedic character, big brown eyes, and contagious smile.

It all started when my mom saw a post online that a name-brand cereal was looking for its new spokesperson. My mom asked me if I wanted to enter the contest, and I was like, “yeah!” I submitted my audition on the last day it was due, and two months later, my mom received an email stating that I, along with two other submissions, won the grand prize, which included a trip to Los Angeles, California. When I got to LA, I was treated like a king, and then I got the acting bug!! When I got back home to Georgia, I enrolled in my first acting class, and then I started studying the business of acting. I registered for several courses and watched YouTube videos on the art of acting while cultivating great mentor relationships. I was told that I needed to get headshots, so I connected with a local photographer named Marie Thomas located in Atlanta. From there, God blessed me with many opportunities!! I was signed with Carolina Talent Agency with Marc and Charlotte Soper, Advantage Talent Agency, Paradigm Agency, and my management team Treadwell Entertainment Group with Tina Treadwell and Kim Coleman! I shared my love for acting by doing short skits on social media. I am currently training with Words In Motion Acting Studio in Atlanta, GA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far, it has been a smooth road. Of course, when trying anything new, there will be some challenges, like finding out what type of character actor you are or how to get comfortable in front of the camera. I started acting when I was 7 ½.  Acting is my specialty. Since I love reading, getting lines and memorizing them comes naturally. Becoming Muhammad Ali by James Patterson and Kwane Alexander is one of my favorite books. My grandmother purchased this book for me as a gift for landing my first movie role. It took me only one week to finish the book. I learned from reading this book that I can be anything that I want to be regardless of my circumstances and never give up on my dreams. I also love drawing self-portraits and writing comic books when I am not acting. I am most proud of seeing myself on tv because I worked extremely hard to get there. What sets me apart is that I am a 10-year-old with a very hectic schedule. I go to public school (in honor classes), play basketball (my team recently won the district championship), attend acting classes throughout the week, weekly guitar lessons, and fly back and forth from Atlanta to Los Angeles.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
To my credit, commercials, films, and print work are Twin Pops Budget Saver Popsicle, Cartoon Network’s Teen Titan Go, TV One’s Fatal Attraction (S9/EP14, An Unlikely Mastermind), a short film called, Perfect, and a movie called, Tomorrow directed by Kellen Gibbs coming out soon. In the summer of 2021, I had the opportunity to work with Lamelo Ball with his Puma MB1 shoes. Also, this past winter, I just finished recording my very first voice-over for a video game. Details about the video game will be out this summer. I have new projects that I am currently working on and will be sharing on my social media pages shortly.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is when I got my dog, Buddy. He is a mixed Beagle and German Shepherd. Buddy is a rescue dog that my dad brought home about four years ago after my other dog Prettie died. So, I was happy when Buddy came into my life. Another favorite childhood memory is just being around my family. I have an older sister, Nekenzie Christine Burrell, who helps me out a lot when studying my lines. My sister and I are very close. Family means a lot to me, so spending time with my parents and sister, such as going on vacations, cooking dinner, playing board games, or watching movies, creates the best memories.
