Today we’d like to introduce you to Mathieu Channer
Hi Mathieu, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Mathieu Channer, I am a 27 year old commercial and headshot photographer based in Atlanta. Moving to Atlanta over a decade ago from my home town of Montego Bay, Jamaica, I found an interest in my love for capturing moments and stories around me in the form of photography. I started out using my mother’s old digital point and shoot camera experimenting with many forms of photography but ultimately found my calling with portrait & headshot photography. Without the love and support of my family, friends, and the community of photographers and my peers online that support me I wouldn’t be where I am today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road definitely hasn’t always been smooth. As with anything in life there will always be challenges, but it’s how you work around or through those challenges that really matters. When I was first starting out in my career, the biggest obstacle I faced was my age, I was 19 at the time and potential clients and companies weren’t always confident in entrusting young adults my age with large project responsibilities. Gaining the trust of companies and clients wasn’t easy but through my quality of work, professionalism, and my work ethics I was ultimately able to overcome that obstacle.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize and am most known for my portrait photography. I have always had a passion for capturing people and the finer details of facial expressions in portraits. My commitment to the satisfaction & growth of my clients’ visions and businesses have been what set me apart from other. Along with my portrait work I have a burning passion for capturing moments & am most proud of my street & travel photography, which I do in my free time and use as a way to express myself artistically.
What are your plans for the future?
In the future I plan to continue growing my photography business and look forward to meeting new people through my love for photography and travel. Recently I have been doing a daily post challenge online of my personal work and hope to continue doing it in the near future. You can see those photos on @matts.moments on Instagram or Threads.
