Today we’d like to introduce you to Mikayla Geer.
Hi Mikayla , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my social media journey in high school because my close friend at the time was trying to build her photography portfolio. As time went on and our friendship faded, I continue to plan out photoshoots and took instagram more seriously. My sophomore year of college, I got my first brand deal with Twist Hair Co. and this changed the game for me. I was more motivated than ever to get more collabs and really take influencing seriously. Almost a year later, my friends were starting a rave wear brand and asked me to model for it. I had never been to a rave before but this gig would be the start of it all. Later on that year, I went to Imagine Music Festival and fell in love with the rave community. After the fest, I had seen an ad to influence for festivals and applied almost immediately. The following year I was at Okeechobee Music Festival and I had recieved an email stating that I was accepting to promote for Imagine later that year. Fast forward to now, I am working side by side with numerous rave brands, and have promoted with countless festivals and shows. I am nowhere close to where I want to be within the industry but the dream is to work directly with festivals and artists as a social media director.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been easy. I often struggle with imposter syndrome and have trouble defying my “why im doing this”. It’s hard being a creative and not comparing yourself to others. I constantly have to remind myself that I just need to keep posting and that no ones opinion of me matters.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a creative that focuses on rave content. I curate brand shoots for rave related brands. Most recently, I have appeared on a rave dating show (@ravebaetv). I am most proud of my shoot that I did at Solfest Music Festival with crucibleconversion. I am unfiltered and not afraid to say whats on my mind. I will always stick to my morals and I believe that this is what sets me apart. I always try to have my personality shine through on my socials.
How do you define success?
Success to me in a never ending windy road. There are constant twists and turns and I fear that I will always be chasing success. I am never satisfied with my creativity and it drives me to always be better.
