Today, we’d like to introduce you to Monique Lisa Johnson.

Monique Lisa Johnson

Hi Monique, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m a native New Yorker who decided to relocate to GA because of its rich culture and representation. I’m a writer, director, and producer of stage, film, and books. I am also a writing coach as well.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has been a difficult and rewarding journey. Some of the difficulties I’ve encountered have to do with getting potential authors and writers to understand the importance of writing their own legacy story so they have control over their own narrative.

For those passionate about the story they’ve been fortunate enough to tell it has been a worthy journey to be on with them helping to properly craft their first book.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a 45-time nominated writer and 26-time awarded playwright. I’ve sold out the world-famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, NY five times single-handedly as an independent playwright.

I graduated from the Nasdaq Entrepreneurial Women in Business program and was featured with my class on the face of the building. I’ve self-produced over 200 on and off-Broadway productions. I am in the African American Museum in DC for my small contribution to Hip hop.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
No luck at all just hard work and dedication to my craft has helped me get to where I am.

Perseverance is my best friend.
