Today we’d like to introduce you to Mykey Stone.
Hi Mykey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started modeling back in August 2019. Simply posting pictures I took with an iPhone 6 camera to social media. I quit my job and focused my intention on studying the industry and the latest trends. By October 2019, I was noticed by a local runway show producer and soon after I was introduced to my first runway coach!
From there, my first fashion show ever I walked in late was December which was just the beginning.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, Some of the challenges were protecting myself from scammers, products bought from industry insiders but never received. At times, I found myself comparing myself to unrealistic standards that complicated my self-esteem followed up with health and financial struggles.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a Plus Size Male Model.
I specialize in Print, Runway, and Editorial modeling and known for my wide diverse range of looks and concepts that uniquely weave in and out of masculine and feminine androgynous themes. Stepping out of my comfort zone is something I’m extremely proud of while doing what I can to focus fully on being a plus-size male supermodel.
My consistency around concepts and transitions sets me apart from others, which allows me to stay unique in this creative space of fashion modeling.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has definitely played a role in my life! During the pandemic, World Renowned Fashion Model Tyra Banks formed “Modelland,” where she created a number of challenges virtually for people in the creative/fashion industry. On one of the challenges, I was privileged to win the body positivity challenge during her “Modelland” series. You can also say “Luck” would have it that three other industry insiders (America’s Next Top Model Alum) including: Todd Anthony Tyler a world-renowned Canadian photographer that has been a guest photographer on the ANTM, Victoria Henley Cycle 19 college Edition and Keenyah Hill of Cycle 4.
All of these industry pioneers have poured into me one way or the other which has molded my career today.
