Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie Mack.
Hi Natalie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am the proud owner of Cooking with Klass Catering. I am originally from Canton, Ohio and have lived in Douglasville, Ga for over 16 years. My love for cooking came at a young age. My mother was a single mom and worked two jobs to provide for my sister and I, so we didn’t always have a homecooked meal. I started trying different recipes, having friends taste my food and once I saw how much they loved it, it only solidified that this is what I wanted to do. I chose the name Cooking with Klass because I feel everyone has their own definition of “Class”. Anything from a backyard wedding, vending event, a game day extravaganza or an intimate dinner for two, I can do it all and do it with Class. At CWK it is our mission to provide the perfect solution for any Klassy occasion. Being a single mother of three beautiful, very picky girls, I have explored many different cuisines to suit their individual palettes. This is one reason I don’t have a limited menu. I want my clients to tell me what they want to be served or the experience they want to have and allow me to create that for them. CWK was born in 2020, at that time I was only able to provide catering for small events; while Covid made me take a step back, I feel it has only made me stronger. CWK can now provide a DJ, a photographer and currently limited decorations. My goal is to own an event space, a place where I can provide a one stop shop for my clients no matter the size of their event, in addition, be able to host events that showcase my food. I want to be able to create an experience.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This journey has not always been easy, however my struggle came from within. The fear of failure has always been my downfall. I have always told my children not to care what other people thought and to follow their dreams, but I could never find the strength to take my own advice. The food business is brutal, and I always feared someone not enjoying my food but deciding to let go of my fears and follow my dreams has been the best decision I could have ever made for myself and my family.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When I first started my catering service in 2020, I only provided catering for small events, then Covid hit and stopped me in my tracks. I took it as a challenge, I now provide not only catering but a DJ, a photographer and an event coordinator. I am available for corporate events, birthday parties, graduations, reunions, weddings, and private dining. What I do is try to provide an experience for my clients, I don’t have a set menu and I believe that is what set’s me apart from most caterers. I am most proud of taking the leap of faith and following my dreams. I love to cook and serve my community, and seeing the smiles on my client’s faces when they enjoy my food is and always will be priceless.
What matters most to you? Why?
The thing that matters most to me is being able to show my children what success looks like. It is not always about having fancy material things; to me, success is about being able to follow your dreams and do what you love while still being able to provide for your family is success in itself. Building a successful business proves to myself and my children that with a little bit of tenacity and hard work the sky is the limit.
