Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Herbert. Them and their team share their story with us below:
While some attend schools to learn a trade, others are born with a natural ability to do it. We refer to the latter as true artists. Natasha Lehuanani Herbert is a true artist. Her young life spent drawing as an escape from a troubled childhood progressed into a passion for creation. The need to actualize her artistic desires led her to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Digital Media from Michigan State University and a plethora of awe-inspiring freelance work. Shortly after graduating, she came back to her hometown of Cleveland to purpose her photography career. Little did she know it would take off literally landing her in gigs internationally.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As an entrepreneur, there’s always a struggle. I didn’t have much money growing up so I obtained jobs that would help me sustain all while going after my dreams. I struggled trying to balance work and my passion for 8 years until I decided to go full throttle on my business in 2020.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a professional photographer and I specialize in wedding photography. I’m proud of the number of awards and recognition I received over the years. One of my biggest accomplishments was landing an article in Essence for a shoot which paid homage to the Obamas in 2017. It was also written in a number of other magazine outlets like Glamour, Brides, Allure, NBC, and more. I’ve landed televised news articles on my contribution during the pandemic called the “Front Steps Project” which was a photography initiative to bring joy to families while they were in lockdown.
Also, I think what sets me apart from others is my style of work. I’ve heard a number of people describe it as “dreamy” or black disney-ish. It also brings a positive light to the black community which was my sole purpose in purposing it.
