Conversations with Nichole Woody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nichole Woody.

Nichole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My path to business ownership wasn’t linear. I changed my major three times before graduating with a degree in Computer Information Systems, plus minors in Business and Graphic Design. After college, I spent time job searching and working in the service industry before becoming a mom — and that’s when everything really clicked. I realized I was meant to be a business owner all along.

My love for web design actually started back in high school, customizing my Xanga and MySpace pages by editing HTML templates. Playing with fonts, colors, and layouts has always been my jam. Now I get to combine that creativity with my technical and business background to build websites that truly support and reflect my clients’ brands.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road. After graduating, I spent a long time job searching, mainly for tech-focused roles, and had very little luck. That period was discouraging and made me question whether I would ever actually use my degree. For a while, I honestly started to lose faith in the path I had chosen.

I didn’t fully figure out what I wanted to do until my thirties — almost ten years after graduating, when it feels like you’re supposed to have it all figured out. A turning point came when I discovered a podcast by a very successful business owner in my field. I binge-listened, learned from her journey, and used that inspiration to shape my own business model. What felt like a setback at the time ended up giving me clarity and confidence to create something that truly fit me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in designing custom websites on the Showit platform that are both visually compelling and highly functional. My focus is creating sites that not only look good, but also work strategically — with SEO built into every page so clients are set up to be found, not just seen.

What sets me apart is that I truly handle the process from start to finish. I take care of the technical side — domain setup, hosting, and all backend details. Once the site is complete, I hand it over with the tools and knowledge they need to confidently manage it themselves. My goal is to give clients a website that feels aligned with their brand and empowers them moving forward, not one they’re dependent on someone else to run.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is when I would spend hours getting lost editing an image in paint pixel by pixel. Now Photoshop can do everything with the click of a button.
