Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Lin.
Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a Motion Designer based in Savannah, GA. I originally come from Taiwan, which is famous for bubble milk tea and night market! During my sophomore year, because my major, advertising, has a strong connection with motion graphics, I got opportunities to learn what it is and found my passion in motion graphics. After graduating, I decided to come to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) to pursue a Master’s degree in Motion Media Design.
In June, I completed my MA final project, “Expectations,” and graduated from SCAD. This project is about how I define the ups and downs in my life. You can watch the full video on my website! Enjoy!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I believe that people like me who switched their focus in their Master’s program may face initial challenges as we venture into new territory. However, my enthusiasm for Motion Graphics reinforces my conviction to become a professional Motion Designer.
While it’s true that 2023 has seen a slowdown in the industry, I remain optimistic. I believe that all graduates this year will navigate their unique paths and discover their own successes.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do both 2D and 3D design and animation and enjoy exploring different art styles. I’m the type of person who enjoys stepping out of my comfort zone to take on new challenges. This mindset has led me to expand my technical skills and work on diverse Motion Media projects.
Among all, I love 2D animation the most. There’s something truly fascinating about bringing graphic design and illustration to life through animation. I’m delighted to hear that my audiences can sense my personality in my work; it’s a compliment that sets my creations apart from others.
For those interested in exploring my portfolio, you can find all my works on my website, linked at the bottom of this interview. Hope you enjoy them 😀
How do you define success?
In my opinion, finding the ability to both enjoy your life and your work is a form of success. While this sentiment may seem somewhat general, I believe that achieving a healthy work-life balance is important. I’m still on a journey to figure it out. Cheers 🙂
