Conversations with Princess O

Today we’d like to introduce you to Princess O.

Princess, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
As a child, I’ve always had a strong interest in anything fashion related. My mom always allowed me to have creative control and I was (still am) the biggest girly girl. In high school, my mom bought me a sewing machine to further work on my hobby of sewing but I did not have the motivation then to actually sew more so just piecing clothes together. Through high school & college, I always received compliments on my outfits & was constantly told I should get into personal styling or anything fashion related. I was slightly discouraged because breaking into fashion doesn’t really have a roadmap, moreso you just push your best foot forward and hope to get noticed or an opportunity that will have your work blow up. Initially, Dainty Doll Styled Me was a joint business with my childhood friend but I ended up taking it over and changing the name to be on brand with my other businesses. After a complete rebrand, I was lost for words how much traffic our Instagram received along with positive feedback. Right now we are currently on a hiatus as I’m getting all our ducks in a row but God willing by 2023, we will be back consistent with content and personal styling with no breaks.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I wish it was a smooth road lol. Personal styling is different when it comes to businesses, you’d be surprised how frugal some people are when it comes to their image when especially in the limelight, your image sells; what you wear, how you wear it, down to the details of makeup & hair, it all matters. Nonetheless, as time progresses God willing it will be easier as I gain clients of higher profiles and I finally get the opportunity to work with individuals I’ve had my eye on. Personal styling is a constant learning experience so I’m just an adamant learner of this fashion space.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an image consultant and personal stylist. Our social media is circulated around creating inspo of different looks/outfits for women across the world. I look at Dainty Doll Styled Me as a fashion-safe space where we can discuss fashion trends without backlash, create inspiration of outfits based on popular demand or specific events, and all in all being a platform that is relatable for all ages, color, and body shapes of women. I specialize in personal styling, fashion forecasting, sketching, personal shopping, and connecting clientele with seamstress; basically, connecting the dots when it comes to fashion and make it make sense. I’m most currently proud of still receiving referrals and projects to work on despite not actively posting on our social media; this only proves that word of the mouth is actively working, and our work obviously speaks for itself. What sets me aside from others is my relatability because outside of curating looks, I like to engage with my followers on their thoughts and concerns on anything fashion related, it’s almost like a big family discussion on things that excite us the most, in the case being fashion, women’s fashion. Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Honestly, I’m looking for a mentor myself but my advice in general when it comes to person styling and image consulting is to not be afraid to put yourself out there. DM that socialite, unapologetically promote yourself to others about what you do, and always keep in mind that you are a walking brand.
