Conversations with Queen Thornton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Queen Thornton.

Hi Queen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

Brittney “Queen” Thornton is a multi-talented and multifaceted military brat born in Ft. Hood, Texas. During her early childhood she spent years in Germany and back home in the south. When her parents retired, they settled in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, where she was raised from ages 5 throughout high school. After graduating from Frostburg State University, she moved to Baltimore City and has been a resident for almost 15 years, even though she is known for her strong connection to the community and service throughout the entire DMV. From a young age she would spend hours listening, singing, and writing to all different genres of music. This love for music birthed a career in entertainment journalism and acting.

Feeling unfulfilled while working for a Fortune 100 company, she took a leap of faith and quit her corporate job. Determined to learn her craft, she began working as an unpaid intern for WPB Networks. Queen’s first time on-air during her internship impressed the team so much that she was promoted to co-host then went on to host her own show, Queen B Radio in a few short months. Beginning as “Queen B of the DMV”, her brand continued to grow, thus The Queen of Coverage emerged. n 2018 and 2019 Queen was nominated for ‘Blogger of the Year’ by the Titan Art Awards in D.C. She has interviewed 100s of brands and artists as she was a natural networker and connector. Queen tapped into these qualities to covering artists locally known as Deetranada, Tate KoBang, YBS Skola to nationally known artist like Jhene Aiko, Trap Beckham, and Dave East. Events held by the BET Awards, CIAA Weekend in both Charlotte & Baltimore, The National Cannabis Festival, Maryland Preakness 2022, Birdland Summer Music Festival, Curves Rock Weekend, International Women’s Day at MICA, The Miss Full-Figured DMV Pageant and the Baltimore Mayor’s Summer Block Party Tour were all requested coverage opportunities for Queen. In addition to becoming a Radio Personality, Queen acquired the titles of Audio Assistant and Production Assistant through interning with DC’s own EZ Street.

For the past several years, Queen has been blessed with growth, moving to the big screen with appearances on Divorce Court (2020), People’s Puzzler (2021), HBO’s We Own This City (2022), Person-Place-Or Thing (2023) and the world’s most watched unscripted game show called Beast Games (2024). Queen has been in several magazine and blog features including Voyage Magazine (2022) Shoutout Baltimore & ATL Magazine (2022-24) Forbes Global News (2022) and has appeared on billboard features in NY Times Square and Hollywood, CA. These accomplishments were achieved through persistent hard-work no matter the hardships she faced. Queen’s resonate voice and personal engagement with her audience often draws comparisons of tv and radio legends like DC’s Angie Ang or NY’s Angie Martinez and the infamous Oprah.

In addition to her radio and acting lifestyle, Queen was a plus-size collegiate athlete who rededicated her life to health and fitness after reaching over 410 pounds. She has lost over 120 pounds naturally on her own while inspiring others along the way by creating her own program called “Fine After Transformation”. Queen’s successfully helped clients lose weight, restore menstrual health and overall body confidence. She plans to continue to positively influence the wellness community currently focusing on her latest pitch #FATGirlsRunToo, to motivate plus size women to get out and run one step at a time. Being a body positive model and ambassador has created official partnerships with SHEFIT Sports Bra Brand, Fanka Activewear and Oats Overnight. Reclaiming her peace and purpose, Queen enjoys raising anxiety awareness and being charitable providing Haircuts for the Homeless with the non-profit organization F.O.C.U.S annually.

Whether Queen is making TV headlines or healthy transformations, to all other facets of media, one thing reigns true about Queen; she will never quit!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There is no cookie cutter way to become an actress or media personality, just persistence and patience. Becoming for true self and reaching your fullest potential is going to come after perseverance through challenges. Some are unexpected and you have to remain ready for changes; some you can plan and execute. Mental health is real, and anxiety is something I never realized I was experiencing. So, seeking therapy and positive environment changes have been key to focus and success!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am currently enjoying the Airline Industry and its benefits traveling to casting calls and media events. I have been able to go to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Atlanta for media red carpet coverages and tv show appearances. I am most proud of my weight loss to coaching ability and following my dreams that allowed me to fortune I could’ve never imagined. I have been known for radio and media journalism until I hit the tv screen. Now I am known as Queen player #817 from MrBeast’s Beast Games on Amazon Prime. I became a top 10 finalist out of 2,000 competitors and its one of my proudest moments yet!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I used to weigh nearly 410 pounds then lost over 150 pounds with my own F.A.T. program naturally. As fearless as I may appear, I am terrified of the ocean even though I love beach and I speak moderate Spanish after studying for 8 years.
