Conversations with Reggie Goss

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reggie Goss.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From birth to now, I have experienced a lot. I’ve always been in tune with my creative style since my childhood till graduating from CBH “Carvers Bay High School”… all the way to The Art Institute of Atlanta… I’ve been in love with ART… rather it was the music itself or my gift of style to have the ability to draw what was in my mind and bring it to life on paper or vocally… I’ve always been surrounded by an amazing community that always told us to reach for or towards whatever we felt we were able to accomplish; even when we’re in our lowest you still tell yourself you can and your capable to do so… I’ve had some amazingly great experiences some I thought I would’ve never endured… Coming from a small place then transitioning to a big city slick changed my life; it wasn’t the education system that caused my life to change but it structured me but it was my “Respect and Manners” that took me to places and place my name in “People” conversations that have and still changing my life…

Like the saying say. “it’s not what you know it’s who you know” and it took me going on BET “Sunday Best” not once but twice two times to receive a no last time on BET…… I was happy to have to little Television time but that’s not where God wanted me and that’s not when my life as an entertainer or singer… Songwriter came into full swing those no’s break and made me… truth is thanks to gospel superstar Grammy-nominated “William Murphy” and Grammy award-winning “Tasha Cobbs Leonard” called me out singing one Sunday at The Dream Center Church of Atlanta that’s when I felt my life altered a little…from that day that one door, of course, I’ve had many other doors but it was that one that slick place me where I needed to be my life change at that moment I begin to work and sing behind secular to gospel mainstream artist signing behind great established entertainers to name a few from August Alsina, Kelly Price, Lashawn Pace to working on artist live recordings… I got the chance to work with many producers and engineers that pave the way for many other artists that’s way bigger than myself I got a link to Beyonce, Brandy, MJ and Whitney Houston producer Fred Jerkins……some televised, some wasn’t…

However, I wanted more than just to sit in the back and work, so that’s when I was introduced to Grammy Nominated songwriter/producer Billboard charting… record label producer for… Epic, Aftermath, Motown, Sony, Konvict, and Interscope Mr. Eddie Stokes he changed my life he gave me the opportunity to create something of my own my first project single “Season Away”!!!!!!!!! by me “Reggie Goss”!!!!!! I was able to write that song on my own from what I have been through, maybe still achieving……and got it placed on Apple iTunes and all other musical platforms that’s small to me but big at the same time because that song has touched so many hearts from the street to the church and still blessing hearts…… I am not done yet; those are just some small things among many that I trust and believe in… an accomplished and did well the truth is I am still building this brand of me that many has come in love with the sound of the art of me I am still creating my Brand… I am more than Music or a voice truth is I am a product of my family, church, community friends and more…. that’s what opened doors for me and help me walk in places I thought as a little boy from a small place called… PeeDee, I never would’ve seen but I did and my next projects will be BIGG can’t wait for you all to hear and see soon…. thanks for believing in me……I love my community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not…….. but my strength came from how my folks brought me and my cousins up they nailed in our heads that no matter what you face or what you go through…..or what people around you call you….impact the way you treat your circumstances… God will always give you the strength…. and sometimes that’s a test but faith and being humble to my surroundings made the days that I wanted to give up a little more smooth, I must say but it was rough at times… but I’ve learned to take my time and use the little that I had to get to where I needed and where I am at today…times when money was short or maybe no money at all I would always tell myself… I will be more than this I will reach hearts and souls one day… I will help someone….one day, I will put folks on the streets that homeless in homes…….sometimes I would stand in the bathroom when no one could see me and use my hair brush at a microphone and have my own concerts and pretend I had a stage…. so the path has not always been easy and sometimes I often take myself back to that time…why because even though I am walking in my dreams….. I’m still imagining more.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When all my family would get together in the neighborhood on any given day cook on the grills, play kickball… foot ball basketball any outdoor activities…….. we would climb tress… play in the woods… lol roll up and down the hills of the canal beside my chill hood home it was nice when everyone would come together… I was my mother and still is today the only child so it was nice to always have the kid around the community to come together and have a good time….other than that I found ways to entertain myself…. that’s one reason I learn to hear sounds and write music to anything I heard in my childhood being the only child play a big part in my music life today those times when I was to myself when my cousins wasn’t around I will get in a place and allow my thoughts to build songs this was at 7 and 8 years old… same age I started singing in churches leading groups that was older than me in worship and more so the memories of my childhood started my path that I’m on today.
