Today we’d like to introduce you to Renae Marshall-Robinson
Hi Renae, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am an IT professional and brand ambassador with Clayton County Public Schools, where I have proudly served for 27 years. Beyond my career, I am a mother of three and grandmother of two, roles that bring me immense joy and purpose.
In addition to my professional and family life, I am honored to hold the Crown of the 2024 People’s Choice Award for Sparkle Nation Pageants. However, my greatest achievement outside of my family has been co-founding a non-collegiate sorority, Rho Sigma Alpha Sorority, Inc. on August 8, 2023. What started as a vision to foster genuine sisterhood and community engagement has grown beyond my wildest expectations. Today, Rho Sigma Alpha spans 29 states, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and even Germany, a testament to the need for an organization that uplifts women and gives back to the communities we serve.
My journey has been shaped by a passion for technology, leadership, service, and empowerment, and I look forward to continuing to make an impact in all that I do.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges I encountered when founding Rho Sigma Alpha Sorority, Inc. was getting people to take us seriously. Many were unfamiliar with the concept of a non-collegiate sorority, and others questioned whether we were a “real” organization. Because of this, we faced doubt about our legitimacy, our mission, and the work we do.
From the beginning, we knew we had to constantly prove ourselves, demonstrating not only that we are a valid and structured organization, but that we are here to stay. Through community service, sisterhood, and unwavering dedication, we have worked tirelessly to establish our presence and make a real impact.
Despite these challenges, our perseverance has paid off. We will continue to break barriers, defy expectations, and build a lasting legacy.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have spent my career as an IT professional with Clayton County Public Schools, where I have proudly served for 27 years. In addition to my work in education, I am also a small business owner, which has allowed me to explore my entrepreneurial spirit and leadership skills.
However, my true passion lies with Rho Sigma Alpha Sorority, Inc. While I wouldn’t call it “work,” building and leading this sisterhood along with my other founders, Lashyra Escobosa and Audrea Dickinson, has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Rho Sigma Alpha is more than just an organization—it’s a community, a movement, and a lifelong bond. Watching it grow and make a difference in the lives of women and the communities we serve is truly rewarding.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my favorite childhood memories is of me and my best friend, Ashley. Oddly enough, we were so fascinated by the idea of being in a sorority while in high school that we created our own fictitious one—with just two members: her and me!
We had no official name, no structure, just pure fun. Our biggest tradition? Walking down the hallways screaming “Sweepie Di” in the highest-pitched voice imaginable. To this day, I have no clue where that came from, but looking back, it was absolutely hilarious.
The irony? We both went on to college and never pledged at all! But life has a funny way of coming full circle—because now, I am the proud co-founder of Rho Sigma Alpha Sorority, Inc., building a real sisterhood with real impact. I guess in some way, my childhood dream was always meant to come true!
