Conversations with Rodolfo Delgado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodolfo Delgado.

Hi Rodolfo, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
So, this is my story…

I was born in a family where parents prioritize education above all else. Around the age of sixteen, I decided that it was my responsibility as an educated person with enough means to create something of actual value for those around me. I was very young when I realized I wanted to build something big.

At twenty-one years of age, I became an Architect. By the time I graduated, I was working at a real estate company. I had the opportunity to live in Barcelona, Spain, where I studied architecture and was mentored by starchitect Eduardo Cadaval. By then, I knew my contribution to the world would come from architecture, real estate, and technology.

Around the age of twenty-four, I decided I wanted to live in the United States because it offered opportunities and the quality of life I was looking for. I began studying for my GMAT and applied to the top universities in New York. In 2015 I started my master’s degree in Management of Technology – executive program at New York University (NYU). As tough as the program was, I excelled in my classes and had a part-time job assisting dozens of real estate experts with technology. It was then that my future business idea came to fruition.

In 2017, I founded my first American company, Replay Listings. Our mission is to bring transparency to the real estate industry and bring the power of real estate back to consumers’ favor. This idea came while working with a real estate brokerage and experiencing a client’s frustration. Our offering is a mobile app and a website where people can advertise properties only through unedited videos.

In 2018, I was nominated for Forbes “30-under-30,” but unfortunately didn’t win the title. A year later, I received a call from a Forbes representative inviting me to contribute to Forbes.com by writing monthly articles to the real estate and business sections – an honorary position I still hold.

Since my company’s foundation, we’ve helped over 250,000 people during their search for a new home. Searching on our platforms is free, providing equal opportunity for every American searching for a home.

After Covid-19, the owners of big new developments in New York began reaching out to us. Video tours, our main offering, were becoming essential to the real estate business. In 2021, we created a new service called “Replay Listings: New Developments,” in which we help building owners take a video tour of every single apartment to communicate more efficiently and transparently with potential customers.

Today, we’re responsible for leasing two new big developments in Brooklyn, totaling over 250 apartments in less than eight months. We’re excited to say that our company is thriving, and due to the platforms’ scalability, we’re significantly growing every day.

Today, we’re working with the owners of a new development in Hudson Yards that just began to lease over one thousand apartments with the aid of Replay Listings. Due to our current success, other projects are already reaching out.

We’re looking forward to serving our community while growing our business. Everyone deserves a roof over their heads, and thanks to Replay Listings, everyone will now be able to find one quickly. Real estate, honestly.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. It has been everything but a smooth road.

When you open up a company that aims to disrupt an industry, you’re like a gladiator stepping into the arena to fight all the big players. Because you’re a small player, you have the advantage that you can move faster – make quicker decisions. But, all the big players in the industry are way stronger, so it’s a daily struggle to figure out how to move quickly and “throw punches” through innovation.

Before you even smell success, you’ll have to put in the work. Those disciplined have an advantage, and those with a reason to fight (purpose) are most likely to succeed.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a technology enthusiast. I’m the kind of guy who spends their money on the latest tech gadgets.

So when it comes to innovation, I love to play with videography.

When I started working in real estate, I noticed my customers’ need for unedited videos of their future homes. So, I created a whole company centered on videos for real estate.

Today, I’m proud to say our company has over ten thousand unique and exclusive video listings of available apartments for rent in New York City. Videos are unedited, and our whole objective is for people to be able to experience the inside of the homes as if they were there, essentially bringing more transparency and honesty into the process.

How do you define success?
Success is knowing you’re one step closer.

In my experience, failures are essential in your journey. And Success is simply doing something today that will position you in a better place to get closer to where you want to be tomorrow. Success is moving in the right direction – one step at a time. It is the combination of purpose, willingness, and consistency.
