Conversations with Roger Charles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roger Charles.

Hi Roger, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a retired New York City Police officer.. Three years before I retired at the age of 39 I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. I was not going to take the medicine the doctor prescribed for because of the possible negative side effects. I did some research on cannabis and it’s effects of blood pressure. I managed my health with better eating and exercise habits to try to lower my blood pressure for the next three years that I was still a New York City Police Officer. After two years of retirement I got my hands on some great cannabis. The cannabis use not only lowered my blood pressure but I started to also sleep much better. I started to introduce cannabis to my associates and family members and they also had some great Wellness success with it. I was so amazed by this plant and its amazing Wellness benefits that in 2024 I open Mellowcated Elevated Health and Wellness. I made up the word Mellowcated for my Shop name. Mellowcated is the new substitute word for being High to elevate your mind and body by using natural and organic products to heal your self. The word HIGH has been tainted by negative and harmful products So I had to come up with a replacement and Mellowcated was born.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This may sound silly although there were many obstacles. Like the city of Powder Springs Georgia not allowing me to put up a business sign with the letters CBD on it, being accused of being to close to a church and residential property and being pressure by the city to change by business profile to a dispensary from a Health and wellness shop. My creator moved all obstacles out of my path. It has been a beautiful dream please do not wake me up.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been in service in all my careers from a city bus operator to city police officer. My journey through life has prepared for my service as the owner of Mellowcated Elevated Health and Wellness. Because of my background in service I am able to communicate with all my family customers no matter race or status.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define my success by loving and respecting my self and in doing so loving and respecting others.. Providing guidance,support, and better products to help support my fellow human beings. By knowing better and doing better. Keeping my core morals in tack.
