Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Joseph.
Hi Ronald, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
First of all, thank you for the opportunity to share my story. The short version is that I joined a filmmaking group on meetup.com, which eventually became a Facebook group. I joined with the intention of writing, possibly scoring scenes, but never had any plans of being an actor. One day, the creator of the group messaged me about a part in his upcoming project. I hesitantly accepted. When I got to the set, I saw these young, beautiful people who looked ready to work. At that point, I felt the need to really turn in a good performance. Based on the feedback I received from the cast and crew, it was then that I decided to pursue acting. Everything about being on the set seemed to came natural. It felt like I finally found my calling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not always been smooth. I spent several years in and out of the legal system, and this was about five years before I started acting. I’m saving that part for the autobiography, but I will say that recovery is possible.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an actor. I’m also a writer and author, but my passion is definitely acting right now. I’ve been in several web series available on YouTube, including Bad Practice, As the Peach Rots and Work Wife. I’ve also been in two movies available in Amazon Prime called The Handbag and most recently Substance Abuse. I’m currently working on web series and two other movie projects. I’m proud of all of my roles for different reasons. It’s the believability that sets me apart. The ability to portray a character whose description I may not fit. That I feel is my strength.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
One of the biggest lessons that was reinforced was not to take anything for granted and be ready to adapt. Normal is almost historical at this point. That and try to make the most of any given situation.
