Today we’d like to introduce you to Rustin Yasavolian
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Masina Diamonds has been part of my life since day one—literally. My father founded the business in 1984, and I took my first steps in our showroom. Back then, I had no idea that one day I’d be leading the very company that shaped so much of my childhood.
I originally set out on a different path, studying Finance at Georgia State, thinking Wall Street might be in my future. But life has a funny way of guiding you where you’re meant to be. On days I wasn’t in class, I found myself back in the store, helping clients, learning the craft, and falling in love with the artistry behind fine jewelry. What started as a way to lend a hand turned into a true passion for both entrepreneurship and design.
Today, Masina Diamonds is one of Atlanta’s premier jewelry destinations, recognized by Jezebel Magazine, Best of Georgia, and Wedding Wire as the best jewelry store in the city. What sets us apart? Customization—we empower our clients to design pieces that tell their unique stories. You’re not limited to what’s in the case; instead, you get to create something truly one-of-a-kind. And while the jewelry speaks for itself, our five-star hospitality ensures that every client feels like family.
Jewelry isn’t just about diamonds and gold—it’s about moments, memories, and milestones. At Masina Diamonds, we’re honored to be a part of those stories, and we can’t wait to help create yours.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Success is never a straight path—if it were, everyone would be on it. In a world filled with “get rich quick” schemes and people trying to sell you the secret to success, here’s the real truth: failure is the best teacher. As an entrepreneur, you have to embrace it. Every setback is proof that you’re pushing forward, learning what works, what doesn’t, and how to refine your strategy.
When I first started, my biggest challenge wasn’t passion—it was learning how to do more with less. As a family business, we didn’t have the luxury of massive marketing budgets, so I had to get creative. Every dollar had to be stretched, and every decision had to be smart and strategic. That experience taught me the importance of efficiency, branding, and building relationships over transactions.
Success in any industry requires genuine passion. You have to be curious, committed, and constantly learning. I started at the very bottom—cleaning showcases, mopping floors, and listening in on every conversation, whether it was with a client or a manufacturer. Over time, I immersed myself in the craft, earning GIA certifications in diamonds and jewelry, not just to build credibility, but to truly understand the history and artistry behind what we create.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the power of leverage. Earning recognition—like being voted Best Jewelry Store in Atlanta and receiving flawless client reviews—has allowed us to forge partnerships and opportunities that would have been out of reach otherwise. Success doesn’t happen overnight; it’s built on resilience, reputation, and never settling for “good enough.”
While the road hasn’t always been smooth, every challenge has led us to where we are today!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Jewelry is personal—it tells a story, marks a moment, and reflects individuality. That’s why we don’t believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach. Instead, we give our clients the freedom to design pieces that are as unique as their love stories. Whether it’s a modern twist on a classic design or something completely out of the box, we bring their vision to life.
But it’s not just about the clients—our designers thrive on creativity. The ability to craft one-of-a-kind pieces means we’re constantly innovating, pushing boundaries, and redefining what fine jewelry can be. A quick scroll through our Instagram portfolio speaks for itself—every piece is custom, intentional, and beautifully crafted.
What sets us apart? Personalization, craftsmanship, and experience. At Masina Diamonds, we don’t just sell jewelry—we help create heirlooms that will be cherished for generations. And that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
If I could give one piece of advice to anyone just starting out, it would be this: fall in love with the process, not just the outcome.
It’s easy to look at successful businesses and think they got there overnight, but behind every success story is years of learning, failing, adjusting, and pushing forward. When I first started, I thought hard work alone was enough—but I quickly realized that strategy, patience, and resilience are just as important.
A few things I wish I knew from the start:
– Be resourceful. You don’t need a massive budget to make an impact—creativity and consistency will take you further than you think.
– Build relationships, not just a business. Your network, reputation, and the trust you build with your clients will be your biggest assets.
– Stay curious. The moment you think you know everything is the moment you stop growing. Keep learning, keep evolving.
– Success takes time. There will be slow days, tough months, and moments of doubt—but stay focused on the bigger picture.
– Celebrate the wins—big and small. It’s easy to focus on where you’re going and forget how far you’ve come. Every milestone, every happy client, every small victory matters. Take time to appreciate them.
Above all, enjoy the journey. The challenges, the wins, the late nights—they all shape you into the entrepreneur you’re meant to be. Keep going, stay hungry, and never stop creating.
