Conversations with Ryan’Ashley Hawkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan’Ashley Hawkins.

Hi Ryan’Ashley, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am the owner of a cosmetic line named R&R COSMETIQUE. My products are homemade coconut oil and some hemp oil-infused lipgloss, natural beard oils, chapsticks, and lip scrubs, oils, candles, and also accessories. Like all other businesses, it started with an idea back in believe 2017, with a close friend of mine, after careless thinking about my idea, I decided to bring my idea to life in 2019, April 20th to be exact. It’s been quite a challenge keeping my focus on my business. I have given up on myself a couple of times but I didn’t let that take over my mental and I moved forward with my business. So I am where I am today simply because I refuse to let myself go and give up on myself as well as my business.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Whew, chile has it been a smooth road? Not at all. I have had many struggles more so staying focused. I experienced a lot of moments where I got discouraged and just wanted to let it go and just give up on R&R and also struggled with some mental health issues.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At the moment I work for a financial company. It’s not the most fun job but it’s very interesting to say the least. Anyway enough about that, R&R is my real love. We specialize in cosmetics beauty lip products like lipgloss, chapsticks, and scrubs in which we will be releasing very soon. What am I most known for? I would say I am most known for always being the happy, always in my own world, having chill vibes, always smiling, and the supportive friend. I feel like what sets me apart from others is that I am simply myself. I’m not pressured to fit in and always be seen. I’ve always been just Ryan and never cared to go all out to impress anyone else. I am most proud of the woman I am becoming. I’m going on 30 so I’ve changed so much compared to my early 20s. I’m more calm, out the way and just focused on what matters like working, my son, and my business.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is to stay focused not to let the little things get in the way of what matters most and that you can’t always count on those who know you to support you most. I only say that because through this process of getting my business off the ground, I’ve had more support from strangers than the ones who I know. So not to get in too deep on the subject but those are the lessons that stick most.
