Conversations with Samantha Noble

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Noble.

Samantha Noble

Hi Samantha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My story is fairly simple in nature, but how I got to where I am now felt so prolonged and sorted during the process. I am an actor and have been professionally training in that field for over nine years. As an actor, your body is the instrument, which means that you have to train physically and vocally every day in order to maintain proper function in both areas. In order to support my instrument daily, I do yoga in the mornings and my vocal warmups shortly after. In terms of discipline, this is imperative. This is also the reason that I am so passionate about the profession of storytelling. It is highly rewarding in that it feeds my soul in ways I could have never imagined, but it is also very lonely at times. The amount of rejection you face is unparalleled to nearly every other industry. Other artists will resonate with that, I am sure. Other than being an actor, I am also a writer and a singer. Over the past fifteen years, I have really focused on those endeavors and truly would not have taken any other path, though the opportunities did present themselves. I have always returned to this path, and I would choose it again in another life if given the chance.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As an artist, struggles of self-worth, rejection, comparisons, and financial concerns are probably the most common obstacles on this path. I have been struggling for a long time to fulfill my life’s dreams and simultaneously pay my bills, a struggle all too common for us as artists. The commodification of art is probably the most challenging aspect. I want to create, but I need to time to do that, as well as time to find things to work at to pay for the time to create. It almost feels like a snake eating its own tail in the sense that in order to create more, you need to earn more. A challenge, to be sure, but one that I feel I am beginning to tackle.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an actor, most of my work has been through student and independent films, and as a singer, I am currently working on writing songs. I recently began taking piano lessons to support my understanding of writing music, something that I am very much enjoying. I am also working on my first novel as a writer, which is very exciting. I enjoy working on scenes with the other actors in my life when I am not auditioning here in Atlanta, and I also sing when I find the time to, whether that’s a concert in my car or something that I post on social media. I am proud to be a multifaceted artist with many interests. It’s truly the most rewarding way to spend a life. Creating magic in everyday life is what I strive to achieve.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I was recently accepted by Emerson College to pursue a Master’s in Business of Creative Enterprises, in profound hope that I will someday open my own production house for other creatives to come and create alongside one another. I am excited in the anticipation to expand my knowledge base in the entertainment industry and to support other artists as well, both in my own community and globally someday.
