Conversations with Sanna Erica

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sanna Erica.

Sanna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started acting professionally when I was a teenager, shortly after getting into the modeling industry. My first on-camera job was for Bumble and Bumble hair products – I shot an industrial video project for them in New York City. I remember wanting so badly to be an actor – and wanting to work more on camera!

I went on to study theatre, film, and animation in college. The summer before my last semester, I booked the Alloy Entertainment series “PRIVATE” after entering a reality show casting call. I played the role of “Kiran Hayes.” This was a really neat experience – I was able to play a character that, before this point, was primarily a character in a young adult fiction series.

After graduating with my Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Azusa Pacific University, I stayed in Los Angeles for a couple of years to audition and study further. While in Los Angeles, I booked a commercial and feature film but ended up deciding to relocate to Atlanta to be closer to family. Moving to Atlanta ended up being one of the best decisions of my life.

I regularly perform with Sketchworks Comedy and just finished a run of our “Grease” Parody: “Vape.” I played the role of “Sandy.” I hold principal credits from Netflix, Hulu, Tyler Perry Studios, and Coca-Cola. You can currently see me in Black Adam as Wizard #5. I have a few other projects coming out in the next few months, so be sure to stay tuned.

Additionally, I hold my Master of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from Brenau University. I have been coaching actors since 2011. I love teaching actors of all ages and consider it a huge privilege to be able to teach every week with Sketchworks Comedy and The Actor’s Scene.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Acting is a difficult career path. It hasn’t always been easy. I think the most difficult aspect for me has been finding the courage to advocate for myself professionally. Also – having patience is always hard when you are an actor, as different seasons bring different levels of busyness, audition opportunities, and work.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I primarily work in television and film, but I enjoy performing on stage whenever I can! I specialize in comedy, but I am also working on booking more creature work. I have worked two creature jobs thus far, and can’t wait to work on more of those kinds of roles!

I am most proud of my comedy journey and how far I’ve come as a comedic actress. Comedy is something that drives me and makes me happy.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Perseverance and tenacity has been the most important to my success. I won’t give up.
