Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharda Bethea.
Sharda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out based on a need of finding a home with my now husband! At the time, we were dating and both of our leases were up and instead of getting another apartment, we decided to look for a rental home. Needless to say, we could not find a realtor or anyone to help us, so, I became the “realtor”. I was up at night looking for properties and driving around Atlanta opening lockboxes. After all of that, I found us a new construction rental home that we loved! I told my husband, I’m sure there is a need for other people in Atlanta with the same problem. If I can do this for us, I think I can help other people find a home. In between moving in, working full time and planning for a wedding, I went to real estate school, and here we are today! Bethea Reatly Group, LLC is currently powered by ERA Ivy League Realty.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The market this year was a struggle! Plenty of my clients were pre-approved; however, the investors we were competing with tons of investors. Some of my clients decided to wait the market out and some kept pushing and found a house they loved. You definitely have to motivate yourself and your clients to keep going. What’s for them will ALWAYS be for them. Having a system in place was another lesson learned. I come from an IT project management background, so I was always used to having processes in place; however, I made tweaks and removed some of them, which was a big mistake. They are now back in my onboarding processes, which in the end saves me time and supports my need for efficiency.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As the owner of Bethea Realty Group, I specialize in finding my clients a home they can’t live without! Seriously, the minute you find your dream home, you just know it and I pride myself on assisting my clients before, during and after their purchase. I check on them months after the closing and it’s the service they enjoy the most. My clients are not treated as “transactions” but real people. The bottom line is, you cant replace character and service, people always remember these two things. My hope is that all of my clients who come in contact with myself and the company walk away feeling blessed, plus we have fun during the homebuying process!
I also never take “No” for an answer. The moment I hear it, I go into overdrive to figure out another way to get business done! That’s the key to success.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Even though we were in the middle of a pandemic, life kept going. This is the lesson learned. Yes, we can stop along the way to rest, cry if you need to or even just be still, but no matter what, it keeps going.
