Conversations with Sharonda Davila-Irving

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharonda Davila-Irving.

Hi Sharonda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I’ve loved fashion my whole life but it not always accessible to me so i’ve always had to be creative and understand how to make great but smart purchases. I began my career in the beauty industry over 20 years ago and also became an educator. The path of becoming an Image Consultant is a perfect blend of fashion and education.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. Some of my struggles come from balancing a family, full time career and understanding effective ways to market my business before SM and after.

Often as a business owner, you may understand how to do the job (deliver the service) you are in business to deliver but you must also do the marketing side and run all of the infrastructures. It’s equally time consuming and requires a different skill set.

As a business owner, there is no set schedule so the great thing is that the time is flexible, however, you have to be very disciplined about time management and understand there are no days off.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I teach professional women in their 40s and 50s how to amplify their presence through life’s transitions by curating a wardrobe that R.O.C.S. – their wardrobe is ready to wear, pieces create multiple outfit combinations and is style aligned

The service that I provide centers my client in a way that honors their personal style journey. I help them uncover their unique style profile, and curate a wardrobe that is aligned to body type, color palette, and lifestyle. My goal is to empower my clients with the tools, resources and education to demonstrate their unique beauty in a way that honors their core dopeness.

I am known for understanding the unique challenges of a “woman of a certain” age and pushing past all those tired limitations. I support them in removing the barriers that can cause women to shrink in room that they should shine in. My clients appreciate my clarity, honesty and commitment to helping to deliver a style result that is authentic to them. Their wardrobe reflects the amazing aspects of their lives and signals a level of wholeness after periods of transition that can cause them to lose sight of how to present that.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe that there will always be a strong market for image consultants. We work in various aspects of professional and leveled up life. Many of us work not only with individual clients but also with organizations and companies. As many businesses shift to visual methods of communication and focus on customer experience a strong appearance is critical. At the same time, personal branding, social media and other visual forms of marketing (dating and online dating included here) are also increasing. Professionals are and will be critical to supporting those trends.

Like most industries, the demand to provide virtual services won’t be slowing down. Image Consultants will need to have multiple ways to work with clients. Although in person support is fun and many of us are people oriented, we have to develop ways to deliver the same level client experience virtually.

I work with clients virtually and one key feature that my clients love is a virtual closet. We can work and play in there together!
