Conversations with Shweta Dubey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shweta Dubey.

Hi Shweta, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a fashion vlogger, a software engineer and a proud mother of two kids. I have been working in Information technology for the last 15-plus years. I always loved fashion and traveling but never really got a chance to explore that side of me due to my busy schedule. Once I went to a party with a group of 10 girls. We played a game, and everyone was asked to say one thing about me. To my surprise, each and every girl present there just said you have a wonderful dressing sense and are an inspiration for us. After that, I kept thinking what is it that I could do to follow my passion for fashion/traveling and inspiring other women who share the same interests. I then started posting my fashion/travel posts on Instagram. The response I got ever since is overwhelming. I found something I always wanted to do and STYLEWITHSHWETA was born. Sometimes it’s in us but we don’t know the right way/platform to grow, and I found mine.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Working full-time as an IT professional, having two kids and being a homemaker, it is not easy to make quality content week after week. It needs a lot of planning, organizing and determination. I would say time for me is the biggest challenge. It’s just my passion for fashion that keeps me going. I am also very thankful for my family who has supported me achieve my passion.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a fashion influencer/Digital creator. I specialize in creating content related to lifestyle, fashion and travel, I am proud of the art of creation. Right from the direction, location, shooting, designing, editing I plan everything. I want to inspire other women that it is never too late to start and if there is a will there is a way. Go and follow your dreams, I think what sets me apart from the others is the content that I create. I feel I am my own competition and always try to create content that is unique and better than what I have created earlier. I try to spread positivity through my posts.

Let me give you an example of the content I create. I was given a coffee mug, an outfit as a part of collaboration. I had to make an ad for it as I am essentially marketing their product. Right from styling my outfit to creating an aesthetic set up, to shooting, to editing was all done by me.

What were you like growing up?
As a child, I was very academically inclined and wanted to be a doctor or an engineer. I was a very hardworking and a sincere student. Always completed my work on time, got good grades, I always loved fashion and traveling as well. However, being a computer science student, I was fully occupied with the program and hence never got the right platform, time to pursue my fashion interest, It is after when I moved to USA for our jobs and fully settled in our careers I started fashion blogging.
