Today we’d like to introduce you to Sixteen Bullets. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Sixteen Bullets was formed in late ‘2018 in Atlanta, GA. A five-piece rock/hip hop band with similar sonics of 90’s alternative music. The band members are Mike Marvel (frontman), RAMA-don (lead guitar), Carlos LaQuanous (bass), Tim Porter (guitar), and Slim Jones Jr. (drums). Locally, the band has received radio airplay on Atlanta’s Rock 100.5FM (Home Brew), a segment for local acts 3 times. Last year, they performed main line (T.I, CeeLo Green, Jid, David Banner, KP) at Afro Punk Atlanta Festival. With a genre-bending attitude at its core, you can keep expecting Sixteen Bullets to be a unifying force of sound.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One strength of being a like-minded collective knowing it’s never a smooth road. We love the work, we always aim to find the best in any situation as a band philosophy. For example, when Covid had us all locked down and isolated. We started a monthly streaming series to keep our live performance engagement. Once everyone was back outside, we started curating our own house shows. We believe in fostering the Atlanta rock community wholeheartedly. So when adversity hits, we all can have the scene to lean on for support.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Sixteen Bullets specializes in bringing live-wire energy every time we hit the stage. We are known for rocking crowds with our rock/hip hop/punk/nu metal/ alternative style. We are most proud of having two of our music releases, “We Can’t Take It” and “Give Me Satisfaction” being aired on Atlanta’s Rock 100.5FM 3 times. We will never let labels define us or our sounds.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Thanks to the internet, finding a mentor or networking is in your hands. Following and engaging with someone through social media is the new norm. Matter of fact, that’s how we are being featured right now and thank you.
