Conversations with Softcore Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Softcore Wellness.

Hi Softcore Wellness, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Softcore Wellness began when we met working in wellness spaces on and around the Atlanta Beltline, environments rooted in movement, community, and shared energy. Even coming from different backgrounds, we quickly realized we were asking many of the same questions about wellness: Why does it so often feel rigid or extreme? Why is there so much pressure to do it “right”? And where is the softness, curiosity, and connection that actually helps people stay well?

Both of us had spent years immersed in different corners of the wellness world, exploring movement, recovery, mindset, and self-care. Along the way, we saw how easy it is to get caught chasing “perfect” routines or trends that look good on paper but don’t always work in real life. We also noticed how isolating wellness can become when it’s framed as something you have to do alone, do harder, or do all the time.

Softcore Wellness grew out of a shared desire to create something more sustainable and more human. It’s rooted in the belief that wellness should be integrated into your life, not imposed on it, and that real well-being comes from listening to your body, honoring your season, and staying curious rather than dogmatic. We’re interested in what’s realistic and supportive, not what’s most extreme or impressive.

Today, Softcore Wellness is a lifestyle expressed through our podcast, in-person events, and community conversations. Through honest dialogue, guest interviews, and shared experiences, we explore wellness as something holistic: encompassing mind, body, and spirit, and something that looks different for everyone.

At its core, Softcore Wellness exists to make wellness feel more accessible, more connected, and more livable. This is just the beginning, and we’re excited to see where this journey, and the community around it, continues to grow.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, but we don’t think it’s supposed to be. One of the biggest challenges has been resisting the pressure to make things more rigid or “marketable” before they were ready. There’s often an expectation to move fast, define everything clearly, and fit into familiar wellness boxes, and Softcore Wellness doesn’t really do that.

Another challenge has been learning how to build something collaboratively while honoring our individual rhythms and strengths. Partnership requires communication, flexibility, and a willingness to slow down when needed, which can feel countercultural in a space that often rewards constant output. We’ve had to learn when to push forward and when to pause, and to trust that both have value.

We’ve also had to navigate uncertainty, figuring things out in real time, experimenting, and allowing the work to evolve organically rather than forcing a polished end result too early. But those same challenges have reinforced the philosophy behind Softcore Wellness. The process has mirrored the message: staying curious, adjusting as we go, and choosing sustainability over perfection.

Looking back, the challenges haven’t felt like obstacles so much as teachers. They’ve helped clarify what we care about, how we want to work, and the kind of community we’re trying to build.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At its core, our work is about creating spaces where wellness feels accessible, thoughtful, and human. Through Softcore Wellness, we host a podcast, in-person events, and community conversations that explore wellness as something holistic and lived, not rigid, extreme, or one-size-fits-all.

We specialize in opening up conversations around wellness that go beyond the physical body. That includes mental and emotional well-being, nervous system care, self-trust, community, and how all of those pieces interact with movement, recovery, aesthetics, and daily life. We’re known for asking honest questions, trying things with curiosity rather than judgment, and offering a perspective that values sustainability over intensity.

What we’re most proud of is the community we’re beginning to build. Softcore Wellness isn’t about telling people what they should do, it’s about creating room for people to listen to themselves and find what actually works for them. Whether it’s through a podcast episode, a live event, or a shared experience, our goal is always to make people feel less alone in their wellness journey and more supported in trusting their own bodies.

What sets us apart is our commitment to nuance and collaboration. We don’t believe wellness needs to be perfect, performative, or done in isolation. We believe it’s something that evolves, that looks different on every body, and that becomes more sustainable when it’s shared. Softcore Wellness exists to hold that middle ground — where curiosity leads, softness is respected, and real life is always part of the conversation.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The biggest risk we’re taking is encouraging people to listen to their bodies in a world that’s largely designed to disconnect us from them. We live in a culture that prioritizes logic, productivity, and mental control, often teaching us that the mind is the ultimate authority and that the body is something to manage, override, or push through.

Softcore Wellness challenges that narrative. We believe the body holds valuable information, and that learning how to listen to it is a skill, one that’s often discouraged or dismissed. Inviting people to trust their physical sensations, emotional responses, and internal cues can feel risky because it goes against so many dominant messages about discipline, willpower, and “doing more.”

In that sense, the risk isn’t loud or dramatic. It’s subtle, and it’s radical in its own way. We’re asking people to slow down, pay attention, and make choices that are responsive rather than prescriptive. That doesn’t always fit neatly into existing wellness frameworks, but it’s where we’ve seen the most sustainable change happen.

For us, taking this risk feels necessary. Encouraging embodied awareness isn’t about abandoning logic or structure, it’s about restoring balance. And while it may not be the easiest message to communicate, we believe it’s one that people are deeply ready for.
